I've eaten at Lantern 4 times over the past 6 months. And I admit that I've mainly made a meal of appetizers -- which is easy to do -- but perhaps this has limited my appreciation of the restaurant. It's fine. Some of the dishes are beyond fine. I especially like the Chaat which seems to be a staple on... More

Two recent visits for drinks and light fare were outstanding. We recommend and will return. The Korean fried chicken small plate was superb - batter so crisp and crunchy it made spring rolls seem limp! The portion was surprising generous and perfect for sharing. The jicama slaw as great refreshing accompaniment. The other dishes were fine but not nearly as... More

I've only eaten in the back bar - down the alley on the left hand side as you face the restaurant. They serve the full and amazing menu in a more casual/subdued environment. Wonderful food

Our group of four had dinner at Lantern this week on our last night in Chapel Hill. However, our experience was not what we'd hoped it would be, based on reviews we had read, and comments made by locals about the food. We ordered two different kinds of steamed dumplings and the Warm Kabocha Squash Salad, which were nicely prepared... More

We had a very enjoyable meal here. The food and drinks were fantastic and the service was great. We were in town for the weekend and were told we had to try this place. Sat in the bar area and it was a really neat spot. I can't wait to come back!

As a fine dinning destination in Chapel Hill, reservations are suggested. The service is very good and always looking after the tables. As an appetizer we shared the Salt and Pepper shrimp with fried jalapenos. As a main course, we had a smoked local raised chicken served with fried rice and braised greens and Braised pork shank with a very... More

Came upon this restaurant on short notice and of course they were booked, but we grabbed a seat in their dark but swank bar and decided to feast on a few appetizers for our fun dinner! Asian infused with some indian flavors as well. We had the salt and pepper shrimp (not my favorite but my husband was crazy for... More

We arrived with no reservations and has a seat at the bar/lounge in the back. The difference in decor and vibe was interesting. The only thing I can complain about is that even in november they had the air blowing and it's difficult to find a spot back there that has no breeze. Woman who served us was extremely knowledgeable... More

We have now eaten here 3 times and found it mediocre each time. The restaurants claims to create a blend of oriental and western dishes which sound nice on the menu and are not well carried out. My husband and I had a Duck Matzo Ball Soup (flavorless) followed by a crispy chicken thigh on rice and spinach barely drizzled... More
