A Chapel Hill Must

Walking through the dining area, we decided to eat at the bar which has its own mystique with low lighting and reddish hues. The offering of innovative lip lcking cocktails are not to be missed along with their tasty appetizers such as Korean Fried Chicken and salt & pepper shrimp.

The food was wonderful and the service great. It is in a great location right in the center of Chapel Hill. Was there several years ago and when I was back in the area made sure to visit again!

We had drinks, wine, and dinner here while passing through Chapel Hill. We opted to split the bento box appetizer and the whole trout (which actually wasn't a trout, but that's another story). The bento box at $17 was way over priced--it can nori which could be used to wrap cured fish (why only 4 pieces for 5 pieces of... More

Fortunately our host had made a reservation. The food is Japanese influenced but somewhat unique. This is not a sushi bar or steakhouse. We all found it delicious. Menu is limited (6 entrees and 10 appetizers) but still afforded a wide range of options. Some portions are generous enough to share. We particularly liked the dumpling appetizers. Good wine selection.... More

My husband and I went with another couple for dinner on Saturday. We had made reservations several weeks in advance and got a confirmation call the day of, which was nice. We were seated sort of in a back corner, next to a young child and her mother...not the most auspicious start, and a little unnecessary as there were other... More

An eclectic asian bent, which if that is your taste you will love it. It is very popular and hard to get a reservation, so many people must love it. I am less enthused. I guess the sign is that I live 15 minutes away and we never seem to choose to go there. On the other hand I cannot... More

You absolutely must make a reservation or you are likely to be disappointed. We don't eat out very often, but when we do, we go to the best restaurants we can. Lantern is always high on the list. We enjoy taking out of town 'foodies' there as well. If your palette runs to meat and potatoes then you might find... More

We called Lantern Restaurant to ask about sitting at the bar for dinner on Valentine's day as the restaurant was completely booked. I was told to come before the restaurant opened and wait at the front door. We arrived 45 minutes early, were first in line, and waited in the bitter cold. When the restaurant opened we were shown into... More

Back bar is straight out of Hong Kong. Salt and Pepper shrimp rock. Can't go wrong as a date restaurant

I know if I want an exciting food adventure I will find it here. It is locally sourced, and really fresh. The chef won the James Beard award a couple years ago and has maintained the top spot among cutting edge places in the city if not the Triangle.
