Special

There is simply no way to explain how special this restaurant is. It is on a par with many of the fine Asian restaurants in the Bay Area of California. Not to be missed.

A Fusion restaurant , with a well trained staff , prompt service by all, but you never felt rushed. The dumplings, being freshly made, were a delight to taste, both as to texture and fillings. Try the local craft beer a pleasant amber lager. Definitely worthy of a revisit next in CH.

Lantern Restaurant is in my top 5 of best places I have ever eaten. The place itself is beautiful, and elegantly furnished: something you would not expect from a college town restaurant. The food is outstanding, it seriously belongs to somewhere you would expect in NYC, or London, or Paris. It also has a back bar which is very elegant... More

Head to the back bar, order a craft cocktail, and by all means, order the Fried Pawns...they are shell on, with fried herbs and they are AH-MAZING!!!

This restaurant was always a must when we went to visit our daughter when she was in college. We were pleased to see that it was still as good as we remembered. We started out with drinks and appetizers at the bar which has a really cool atmosphere. The shrimp, dumplings and spring rolls were very good. Loved the trout... More

Walking through the dining area, we decided to eat at the bar which has its own mystique with low lighting and reddish hues. The offering of innovative lip lcking cocktails are not to be missed along with their tasty appetizers such as Korean Fried Chicken and salt & pepper shrimp.

The food was wonderful and the service great. It is in a great location right in the center of Chapel Hill. Was there several years ago and when I was back in the area made sure to visit again!

We had drinks, wine, and dinner here while passing through Chapel Hill. We opted to split the bento box appetizer and the whole trout (which actually wasn't a trout, but that's another story). The bento box at $17 was way over priced--it can nori which could be used to wrap cured fish (why only 4 pieces for 5 pieces of... More

Fortunately our host had made a reservation. The food is Japanese influenced but somewhat unique. This is not a sushi bar or steakhouse. We all found it delicious. Menu is limited (6 entrees and 10 appetizers) but still afforded a wide range of options. Some portions are generous enough to share. We particularly liked the dumpling appetizers. Good wine selection.... More

My husband and I went with another couple for dinner on Saturday. We had made reservations several weeks in advance and got a confirmation call the day of, which was nice. We were seated sort of in a back corner, next to a young child and her mother...not the most auspicious start, and a little unnecessary as there were other... More
