Unique, delicious

Fortunately our host had made a reservation. The food is Japanese influenced but somewhat unique. This is not a sushi bar or steakhouse. We all found it delicious. Fortunately our host had made a reservation. The food is Japanese influenced but somewhat unique. This is not a sushi bar or steakhouse. We all found it delicious. Menu is limited (6 entrees and 10 appetizers) but still afforded a wide range of options. Some portions are generous enough to share. We particularly liked the dumpling appetizers. Good wine selection.... More

My husband and I went with another couple for dinner on Saturday. We had made reservations several weeks in advance and got a confirmation call the day of, which was nice. We were seated sort of in a back corner, next to a young child and her mother...not the most auspicious start, and a little unnecessary as there were other... More

An eclectic asian bent, which if that is your taste you will love it. It is very popular and hard to get a reservation, so many people must love it. I am less enthused. I guess the sign is that I live 15 minutes away and we never seem to choose to go there. On the other hand I cannot... More

You absolutely must make a reservation or you are likely to be disappointed. We don't eat out very often, but when we do, we go to the best restaurants we can. Lantern is always high on the list. We enjoy taking out of town 'foodies' there as well. If your palette runs to meat and potatoes then you might find... More

We called Lantern Restaurant to ask about sitting at the bar for dinner on Valentine's day as the restaurant was completely booked. I was told to come before the restaurant opened and wait at the front door. We arrived 45 minutes early, were first in line, and waited in the bitter cold. When the restaurant opened we were shown into... More

Back bar is straight out of Hong Kong. Salt and Pepper shrimp rock. Can't go wrong as a date restaurant

I know if I want an exciting food adventure I will find it here. It is locally sourced, and really fresh. The chef won the James Beard award a couple years ago and has maintained the top spot among cutting edge places in the city if not the Triangle.

Hi, My husband and I received a gift certificate from my brother for the Lantern. We were so very excited, and got a reservation for early evening. The place was already very busy. We ordered the whole fish, dumplings and NY steak. The steak was favorable but was very tough and chewy. For the price it was very poorly done.... More

I had several friends tell me this place was great and difficulties in getting a reservation led me to believe this was true. Our meal was ok but nothing special. The salt and pepper shrimp were the highlight. The dumplings were fine, but the pork was slightly better than the mushroom ones. I split the whole fish with my friend.... More

The atmosphere is quiet which is very much to our taste. The food is good, although the last time we were there, the soup was almost cold and it wasn't a cold soup. However, the rest of our meal was very good and we enjoyed it.
