my favorite restaurant in Durham

We always try and come up with excuses to go to Durham (we live in Raleigh) just to go to Elmo's. Their Breakfasts are the best but their dinners are excellent also. I have not had a bad meal there and have been probably 20 times. Their shepherds pie is excellent but quite filling. they... read more

Our 1st trip to Elements was just for a quick snack at the bar but the full sit down meal was fabulous. Our waitress from Russia was attentive and knowledgable. The food over the top. Walnut prawn wonderful. Loved the filet combo with pickled onions and bibb lettuce. Tuna 4 ways still a great choice and the the tempura asparagus... More

High end restaurant that has a huge wine selection (if that floats your boat) wide selection of really good seafood, and amazing appetizers and bread. Only thing is it's pricey so stop by the ATM on the way, but staff is 5 star all the way and very attentive. Amazing experience but I'll be eatin at Chic-Fil_A for a while... More

My wife and I have dined at Elements twice... and we are looking forward to going back. The dining experience is exemplary for three basic reasons: 1) The food - primarily Asian fusion. Superbly prepared with fresh ingredients and delivered in a clean, modern setting. One dish is a fine example. Walnut Prawns ($26) is a beautifully crafted dish with... More

Elements was a very pleasant experience. We went there without reservations and were immediately seated at a window table. Although the restaurant is noisy, the atmosphere is pleasant and the service very good. We opted for the small plates and had fried calamari, the roasted beet salad and spring rolls, all very good. The crispy dumplings were too crispy but... More

Our group of eight had a 6:30 reservation prjior to a 9:00 game at the Smith Center. we try to do this at least twice a year and had given up on our old standby, One, which we felt had gone downhill with a recent makeover, and Glass Half Full in Carrboro which is excellent but too hard to get... Elements was recommended by a friend who had been there for lunch. Other than having difficulty finding it (tucked behind some buildings, on a one-way circle, with low signage and NO parking near it), it was worth the trip. The food was truly excellent. Particularly good were Crispy Dumplings (small plate); Crispy Imperial Rolls (small plate); Walnut Prawns (entree); and... More

In prospect, we had viewed our recent visit to Elements as a "grand adventure," though based on the reviews here and elsewhere, we thought we'd enjoy the place. We did!!! From starters through desert, every dish was a delight. I had the Tempura Asparagus with wasabi; my husband had the special tuna "flight" of 4 different preparations and he said... More

We had a party of eight and chose Elements for our annual holiday outing. We were seated at a round table in the center of the restaurant. We were promptly seated and our waitress delivered our drinks promptly. It was a very long wait for our orders to be taken. They brought our bread after a very long waiting period.... More

Pan-Asian restaurants that integrate Chinese, Japanese, and Thai flavors and ingredients are growing in popularity in Chapel Hill and other parts of the Research Triangle. “Elements” joins “Lantern”and “Jujube” in offering this delightful tradition to Chapel Hill diners even if it is not yet quite up to their high standard. Located on highway 54 just east of the 15-501 bypass... More
