Great food

Excellent variety of authentic Indian food, with meat, vegan and vegetarian options. Good variety of great draught and bottled beers, wines and friendly staff. Great specials, lots of seasonal things to try. Also do catering for private functions - we've had them for a party. A little... read more

Great specials, lots of seasonal things to try. Also do catering for private functions - we've had them for a party. A little disorganized, but in an endearing way! I also love Vimala's supportive philosphy towards... More

I have been to Vimala's on several occasions. The food is always good, fresh, and interesting. Check the board for daily specials. No matter what you order, it will be better than you expected. Portions are substantial. I am somewhat addicted to the mango lassi, so be careful.

if you're looking for something different to take your friend or even a date, it's the place to go! I got the tandoori chicken and its a huge portion for an appropriate price. I also got the mango lassi and it's really yummy! The seating is limited since they're busy but it's totally worth it! We got lucky and they... More

I'm a regular diner. Curries are made from scratch, always different goodness. Variety of savory flatbreads, always delicious. Very tasty hot sauces. Indian dishes seem to be authentic cuisine, which may be a little challenging for some. Bone-in dishes are designed to be eaten with fingers, although most diners here use silverware, which takes extra care. Goat is sometimes available... More

We eat out at Curryblossom several times a year when we visit Chapel Hill. It's clear that chef owner Vimala is beloved by her customers and staff and her food reflects that TLC. If you aren't familiar with Indian food the staff will assist you. Wholesome flavorful food in a very collegial setting on Franklin St. Young musicians perform some... More

I had the fish Curry here. The entire plate had a lot of rice. The fish was with Mackerel and had a few bones. It wasn't as good as I had expected. But I noticed a lot of other interesting plates like Dolsa, which was a giant crepe with chicken inside. I wish I had tried that instead. I had... More

I really liked the eggplant curry. Be prepared to stand in line to place your order and then find a seat in the courtyard if the weather is nice

Hungry for Indian, we tried this place... It was mediocre at best. We each had a thali ( mixed plate ) food was Luke warm, not spicy, way too many bones in the fish curry. Portions were fine, dal was very watery, naan was bad. (Too crispy, wrong flour used, not authentic at all). Admittedly we are spoiled by lots... More

Ate lunch at Vimala's with my UNC daughter. I had incredible eggplant curry and she had a dosa. Both were outstanding. Her dosa was filled with potato and other veggies, came with some delicious soup and extra sauces. My eggplant curry was served with rice and salad. Lavender lemonade was our drink choice: beautiful and scrumptious. Service was great as... More
