We sometimes forget we have a jewel here in Chapel Hill. First, the goat stew is to die for!. And Vimala's samosa, eat one and you are full with a smile on your face. It is so big and laden with all that good ingredients. And the folks who serve are so enthusiastic and personal. There is energy... read more

The best Indian food in Chapel Hill, and the competition is fierce. Love the lavender lemonade, vegetable curry and the dhosas. Detailed spicing, excellent staff. Nice courtyard dining. Good menu selection. Bulletproof coffee is smooth. Desserts are killer.

Best Indian restaurant I have ever been to. Vimala's is a unique restaurant. The food is a fusion of everything that is good. Great atmosphere. Lots of gluten and dairy free options.

Had lunch from the Cafe for 12 days during training at Duke . Excellent food and a wide variety of dishes every day . A must visit when you are in Duke or Chapel Hill.

I walked past a sign on a sidewalk pointing down a hallway to Vimala's Café, wandered in, and found that it opened to a lovely, plant-filled courtyard and café. There is inside and outside seating. I've been here once, so far, and had take-away, and was very impressed by the flavor and quality of this little Indian café. When I... More

A friend of mine raved about this place, so I decided to check it out. It’s got a cool feel to it, I was hoping it would be this hidden gem. You order at the counter and they bring the food to you, you can sit inside or out in the courtyard. I was told that the owner cooks all... More

Vimala's serves excellent Indian food. You order at the counter and pick a table in the courtyard, where a server will bring your food. The restaurant is located behind Kipos on Franklin Street. A hidden gem!

We like Vimala's for Saturday lunch. Inside includes community tables usually available. But outside is great in good weather like a Saturday in early May. Dosas, currys, salads -- everything extremely good. Most of all the owner chef Vimula is extraordinary -- great cook and committed to making everyone comfortable and welcome. A Chapel Hill original not to miss.

I had dinner at Vimala's several times during a short summer stay in Chapel Hill. The food was delicious, from the generous thalis to the delicious uttapams. The desserts are worth trying as well. Overall, this is some of the best Indian food I've ever had out of India. The courtyard is absolutely fantastic - a very nice place to... More
