Kitchen is our favorite bistro in Chapel Hill. One of their special events (occasional wine or even cider tasting dinners) Included a champagne brunch to celebrate their Fifth anniversary. As usual, the owner and her wait staff were charming. The simple brunch was delicious-borscht and blintzes for me while my husband opted for all oysters. Mimosas completed the meal. Our... More

Off the beaten track, and a favorite of locals, you would probably never even consider Kitchen if you drove by it. Assuming you would even notice it. A small place that won't take dinner reservations, but absolutely excellent food, friendly service, and reasonable prices for this level of quality. I feel conflicted writing a review. Telling more people may make... More

My husband and I decided to try Kitchen after reading the reviews, as we are exploring the restaurants in Chapel Hill. We welcomed to the restaurant and seated quickly. We did go soon after they opened at 5:00pm and there were already many tables and most of the bar already taken up with patrons. This was a good sign. We... More

My first time at Kitchen. Joined 3 friends for lunch. Two had been there in the past and recommended it. Good choice! We all ordered different items, and all were very pleased - one of us in currently on the Atkins Diet, so requested hamburger, no bun, no house special sauce, and those adjustments were no problem. Service excellent -... More

I enjoyed Kitchen so much for dinner that I went back for lunch today. Dinner was perfect with four renditions of extraordinary mussels. You have to ask for bread, but they are happy to give it to you when you ask. Great waiters who could really explain the menu. Today I met a friend who had never been there. We... More

We went here before the theater. As usual the food was great and well presented. We had Oysters on the half shell (two types), Duck confit which we have had many times before and lamb belly which seemed appropriate for the first night of Passover, somehow. They were all terrific. The lamb belly was particularly tasty this evening. For dessert... More

The food at Kitchen is excellent. Three of us had five different dishes (2 of us ordered the same entree). Everything was superb - absolutely delicious! It's got a fairly casual vibe - no reservations, a hand-written menu on the wall, friendly service. Most of what we had were specials from off the board, so I can't recommend anything specifically.... More

our first visit here, rec'd by daughter who lives in CH. Three of us had mussels with three different sauces, all very good. Came with delicious frites, but no toast or bread for dipping, had to ask for that. One had beef shank, tasted good and tender but had some gristle. Nice wine and beer selection. Service was fine, a... More

Kitchen is a lot like our own kitchen: small, a bit overcrowded, mostly populated with faces we know and love, family favorites served on every plate. The mussels never disappoint. The wine and beer are trustworthy and rewarding. The vegetarians, pescetarians and meat-eaters always find something to savor on the menu or the specials. The servers are well-trained and It's...
