Hard to see from the street. Really nice little French bistro in a small strip mall. Owner's wife greeted us and during the evening made sure everything was great. Our server was Brian and he was fast, friendly and knowledgeable. We shared an order of mussels, beet salad, and short-ribs with mashed potatoes and broccoli. Cherry custard dessert was excellent... Cozy little restaurant that serves fabulous mussels and other dishes. Tonight we had mussels and they are just devine. After eating them you get bread and soak up the broth for a second course of delicious taste. The fries served with the mussels are yummy too. They don't take reservations but we didn't wait too long on a Wednesday night... More

Have been here many times, but recent visit was after return from Paris trip. My wife believes the mussels are better than what was experienced in Paris at a restaurant that specialized in mussels. We frequently dine at the bar so we can get sports update from excellent bartender. I frequently order the special, and it is always excellent. Have... More

Excellent food! A wonderful little neighborhood restaurant as you will find in France, No pretense; just great food. Everything I've had here over the four years they have been open has been great. The mussels are delicious, excellent soups and entrees and the fried oysters are to die for. Don't look for a fancy dining room but expect great food.

Kitchen in Chapel Hill is small so you might have to wait. It is worth it! Food is very good and the atmosphere is simple.

This friendly little restaurant (no bookings for tables of less than 6, worth the wait - but easier to get in after 8) is a gem. The chef has specials alongside a really varied menu of original dishes, all cooked to perfection. The meat was so tender and flavourful a little went a long way. The borsch was excellent. Helpful... I had been to Kitchen twice previously and enjoyed both meals, so it seemed like a good choice tonight. Duck confit was extremely salty and the other dish at the table was also marred by way too much salt on the fries. I am not on a low salt diet and am not particularly sensitive to it. I like salt,... Small cozy place. Fine wine list. Our appetizers were excellent: baked feta cheese, oysters, smoked NC fish. The main course mussels were disappointing. The lambic (beer) mussels were small and dry (old? overcooked?) and the sauce/ broth underspiced and bland bordering on tasteless. The mariniere mussels the same: dry and not tasty. Desserts were fine as was the coffee. Surprisingly... More

Very popular with locals. No reservations. You may have to wait, but it is well worth it. Capable and friendly staff.

I enjoy eating in small restaurants that excel at interesting dishes. We've eaten at Kitchen twice recently and both times our meals were excellent. The mussels marinière are the best I've ever eaten (including PEI). Other standouts are fried oyster salad, hanger steak (served with a great bordelaise), and lamb belly. Attentive service and attractive dish presentation add to the... More
