Yes, it's noisy. Yes, you can't get reservations. But yes indeed---the wines are interesting, the menu is imaginative, and the food is delicious. I'm in agreement with the reviewer who said let's keep this a secret.

What a great find! You'd never think to find an eclectic French bar with tremendously fresh and fabulous food in this crazy little plaza in Chapel Hill. Mussels & fried oysters with incredible bottle of French burgundy & champagne for a 25th anniversary lunch at the bar. What more can a girl ask for if she can't be in France?... More

My family had lunch at Kitchen on a Saturday. There were four of us. Try to sit away from the door. It does let cold air into the restaurant. The place was a little small but we did not find it a problem hold a conversation. There was something for everyone in our family on the menu and we all... More

This is a 4.5 review. We ate on Valentine's Day and they accepted reservations although I have heard they generally do not do that. We needed to call to make reservations, may want to check on that before you go - which you absolutely should. Generally I'm prejudice against restaurants in shopping centers but once I walked in the door... More

Business was brisk. My mussels were OK.. Not even close to Nova Scotia mussels. The $13.00 hamberger was a $4.00 hamberger. For $13.00 bucks you'd have thought a side salad might come with in. Three ladies in our group ordered the burger , one only ate 1/2. Also, extremely well done.. Our group goes out every Friday night for a... More

Admittedly, Kitchen is a hole-in-the-wall, but therein lies its charm. There are probably only 20 tables, and all of them different. From the outside you can barely tell it's a restaurant. But once you're in and seated you're in for some fabulous hand-crafted food that is "to die for!" The wines are hand picked, all of them good. The french... More

Kitchen is very conveniently located in a very small outdoors strip mall that houses Fosters, a laundermat, a bookstore and another restaurant bar that serves mexican tapas,We had the mussels and fries and a nice glass of wine.Friendly service in a nice, quiet ambiance.

Too many people in too small a space - impossible to have conversation. Definitely a college-town restaurant. We found the food standard, nothing imaginative. We had a table of 12 which meant 5 or 6 checks. Our server was excellent and cheerful despite this formidable task.I think even with a party of four this place would still be too noisy... More

We had dinner recently at this restaurant as a family and we loved the food and experience. Food; Traditional French cuisine with some local favorites thrown in for good measure. The produce is local and seasonal. We started with the Basque Style Shrimp followed by the Duck Confit. Both were excellent, though the confit was overly salted. We finished with... More

This is one of those small town restaurants that values social cachet over menu creativity and professional execution. Some locals go here to see and be seen in this tiny space. With less emphasis on fresh food and more on providing the expected mussels and fries it can get a bit boring. Others have complained that the wait staff is... More
