We enjoyed a delightful lunch on the patio. Our server was personable and attentive. He had great knowledge of the menu which was helpful. The food was served perfectly. I had the venison chowder and the baseball steak and both were excellent. My wife had the veggie plate and even though she is a picky eater she thought it was... More

As some other reviewer said, we read the reviews panning the place, but looked at how nice the atmosphere was and decided to take a chance. The service was excellent. Our server was very knowledgable and attentive. She said that they just started the fall menu. I had the quail /waffle selection, which was very creative and delicious. Who knew... More

We had heard about the great back porch bar and football games We were invited by friends and took them up on it. It started off as a shocker when the waitress told us about the special .....cowgirl cut steak @ 50 bucks and the bison steak at a whopping $ 65.00 dollars. We ordered our meal and first it... More

Was concerned that it was either not open or not good when I drove up. Pulling around to the back of the building I found simple cars and a lively covered deck with occupied tables and fireside seating. The meal...mine grilled grouper and cauliflower/cilantro rice was a tasty surprise. The dish that topped it was my dining friend's. She asked... More

I was at first reluctant to eat here after reading some of the reviews re service but glad I gave it a try. Don't pass it up. We were welcomed and seated quickly. Our server was Heather: all service attitude, knowledge, smiles, and recommendations when asked. The restaurant provides an attractive setting. My wife and I had the lamb chops... More

My husband and I stopped in one evening for dinner while passing through Cashiers.First off it is one of the most beautiful buildings I have ever seen. Though we didn't have a reservation we were very lucky to sit outside (would recommend one, they looked quite busy.) Our server was Rene or something like that, not really sure because she's... More

We ate at The Gamekeeper's Tavern last night. We had enjoyed a meal at the bar a year ago and were happy to revisit, but we were disappointed. The waitress, who didn't appear to have more than four or five tables to keep up with (and it was late enough in the evening that the place was not overly busy)... More

Once again The Gamekeepers Tavern proves itself to be the best restaurant in the Cashiers/Highlands area. The food, atmosphere, service, food, music, location and did I say food? Tonight we had the salmon, scallops, elk, shrimp and grits and trout dinners were perfect. The appetizers, fresh baked bread and outrageous desserts...delicious! We are a family of 5 and everyone was... More

Ate dinner at The Tavern this past Saturday night. We sat at the bar and really enjoyed the atmosphere. I had the catch of the day and it was very good. Everyone in our party liked their food, particularly the scallops. This place is a must visit if in Cashiers.

Food is top notch, for foodies and wine lovers. There is definitely a local game theme, and you will usually find local trout and an occasional exotic animal or two on the menu. Not everything is game and you can find steak, lamb, shrimp and other typical menu items as well. Everything is excellent, but personally the greek nachos are... More
