Excellent Sandwiches and Breakfast Biscuits

Classic deli with fresh local ingredients. Great Carrboro institution. Go for breakfast and get the most amazing biscuit I've ever had - choose from homemade pastrami, egg, and cheese, or pimento cheese and bacon, or sausage and apples. For lunch, get a large (not cheap) but delicious sandwich. My... read more

The menu looked fabulous online and I'd heard great things about the food. The outside was promising, as it had a ramp to get in so I assumed it would be pretty good for people with disabilities. Unfortunately, as soon as I got inside it was clear that all the seating was on bar stool height chairs and tables an... More

Overall good but ordered the Reuben and they gave us a Manhattan (slaw instead of sauerkraut). Pastrami a bit chewy. Split sandwich with hubby and they overheard and cut and served on two plates without requesting it.. Very thoughtful! Great tomato pickle only other thing on plate. Would definitely go back but hope for less chewy!

Great change of pace to our usual Chapel Hill stops. I had a turkey rebuen; others in my party had a chicken salad sandwich and a pastrami salad. Sandwiches aren't huge but the taste was terrific with all three. Would suggest ordering a side to round out and make it more substantial. I can't wait to go back and try... More

I have kids at UNC and love to stop over here for a sandwich when I can. Everything is fresh, including the breads, and the breakfast biscuits are large and super yummy.

I love this place - great breakfast and lunch. It really is delicious and fresh. Unfortunately it's very overpriced, but I suppose you have to pay for quality.

Matt and Sheila cure their own pastrami and make their own sides largely from local ingredients. Their hot dogs are great, but my favorite is the Manhattan sandwich at lunch or a simple pastrami biscuit for breakfast. Not many places to sit, but there is a porch and some picnic tables on the sidewalk. Or get take out and hurry... More

I stopped in here after hearing about their hot pastrami sandwich and I gotta say I was pretty stoked about it. I'm not a fan of rye bread so I ordered it on Wheat, and they asked me if I still wanted the mustard on it. NOTE: If you order this sandwich, order the mustard on the side. I said... More

If you are looking for great deli sandwiches, try here. The sandwiches were generous and delicious. The pace when ordering was fast, so our order taker was a little abrupt with our group when we couldn't decide among all the options, but overall it's a great place for lunch.

My daughter-in-law suggested that I try the apple-cheddar dog in the pretzel bun; now I have to get one every time I am in town! This is a charming place. I happened to see it reviewed on Unique Eats. Nothing fancy, but all ingredients are fresh and prepared on the spot. My husband loves the egg salad.
