Great for lunch, not for dinner.

We had fried flounder with southern-style vegetables for lunch. Very tasty and plenty of food. Dinner however, was awful. Chilled shrimp appertiser tasted liked water, chowder was more potato than clams. For as good as their other entrees are, they should take those off their menu.

Great local restaurant serving fresh fish. Nothing fancy about the decor. Servers are warm and welcoming. Prices are a little high, but not lacking in quantity. Come hungry / leave full!

Service: Great! Hush puppies: Best any of us have ever had! The Gouda Bites: Excellent. Unfortunately the fried seafood was not fresh and you can tell it is sitting in pans under a heat lamp in the back waiting to be served. The clam strips were chewy, the fried oysters were hard to swallow, the fried fish was chewy around... More

It was our 25th anniversary and we decided to stay close to home so we went to Southport, Kure Beach up to Carolina Beach to enjoy our dinner in our favorite family restaurant Bownmans at the Beach. Their hush puppies are fabulous. The service was great and attentive. We usually order the seafood platter but got the ribeye steak with... More

We were near Carolina Beach for the weekend, and decided to have seafood. On arrival, Bowman's wasn't what I was expecting or hoping for - this is an older restaurant and appeared "small" from the outside, with more of a local flair. But we decided to give it a shot, and were so glad we did. There are a lot... More

I have a very picky family so it can be a hassle trying to find a restaurant that everyone will eat at. My best friend recommended Bowman's & I'm so glad he did! The food was amazing & authentic. The atmosphere was very family friendly, unlike most of the places I came across. It costed about $50 for a family... More

Still the best traditional seafood in the area. Fish, shrimp, & oysters are lightly breaded & fried perfectly. You can also get the seafood prepared in other ways. Of course the menu offers a good variety of other dishes. Nice lunch menu also. Service has always been great. My only negative is their prices have gone up substantially in the... More

If you are looking for a deep fried dinner this is the place. And sometimes we just crave deep fried. Though the decor could use an update I find the service to be GREAT and the food to be good. Im not a deep fried fan but their hush puppies are delish!! And for as much food as they bring... More

It's very plain environs - probably won't take any hot dates here, lol. But the food is very reasonably priced: $5.95 for a shrimp burger & side of slaw -- you will pay easily twice that at a restaurant in downtown Wilmington. The bar was lined with regulars -- always a good sign. And our waitress was super friendly and... More

First impression was that it had it's best days in the past. Everything seemed 'tired' and they were going through the motions. Disappointed in the food although I've had worse. Bland and average sums it up.
