After browsing a couple of thrift shops in Calabash, Ella's was suggested as the place to go to see some Jimmy Durante photos/memorabilia. Since Calabash was a name associated with Durante, I was looking forward to seeing this for myself. The restaurant was having a bustling time with elderly couples everywhere and I was alone. I proceeded into the restaurant... More

My wife & I were referred to Ella's by a friend. We ate there Mon. Sept. 15th and it was excellent. I had flounder, shrimp & fried oysters w/ slaw. Our server was friendly, effecient and always checking on us. I'll go there again for sure. The next night 5 of us ate at The Boundary House & it didn't... More

I dined at Ella's for both lunch and dinner last week when I visited Calabash. As always, the service was fast and the meals delicious. Ella's is a family friendly, albet loud, casual restaurant. During the summer you can always expect a line out the door. Their food is not fancy, but always tasty. I had scallops for one meal... More

We visit Ellas every time we go to Myrtle Beach. It is about a 15 minute ride from North Myrtle. The restaurant is not fancy but the food and prices are great. If you like seafood, mostly fried but some is broiled, this is the place for you.

We were seated promptly when we arrived. We were seated. But, our server was so fast in taking our order. We felt like we were unwelcome. She came back and took our order. Never did check to see if we needed a refill on our tea. We both ordered the oysters and shrimp. The oysters were like breaded deep fried... More

My family and I were staying at Myrtle Beach and wanted to go to Calabash to eat. Didn't really know what was best, so after research we decided on Ella's...and we sure are glad we did! I do not eat seafood, but my family does, and they said it was awesome! We started with an appetizer of onion strings which... More

The food here was delicious. The atmosphere inside and out may make you think the food isn't going to be good but (not that it's a dirty place, just ordinary) the food is delicious. Pleasantly surprised. The service is ok, not great.

Haven't eaten at Ella's in several years, but my long-standing personal favorite Calabash restaurant is now under new management and after 2 consecutive "less than" experiences, I was encouraged by several friends to make a return visit to Ella's. When we arrived, the parking lot and dining room appeared full but we didn't have to wait long at all. The... More

Those hush puppies were incredible! They reminded me of donuts, but with more of a cornbread taste. They didn't need the honey butter, but they were even better with that. I got a sampler platter, and my favorites on that were the deviled crab and the flounder. Enjoyed the shrimp, too, but I'm not an oyster person, so I didn't... More

Awful stuffed flounder that was previously frozen. Stuffing was horrid and on the outside of the fish. Loud, overpriced and not worth the trip. I could go on and on but you get the point. Stay away!
