Delightful local spot

Pop's is essentially a bar, that serves food. They do fabulous steamed shrimp. The bartender has boundless energy. On a Friday night, any time of year, they are pretty packed, and she handles all the tables and the bar. They have live music most Friday nights (I believe the son of the founder... read more

We had oysters and they were fresh and wonderful. Cold beer and a friendly, bustling atmosphere. Lots of local folks in there, so it MUST be good :-)

You will be unhappy if you come here for a fine dining experience, of course the exterior does not attempt to deceive. This is a local's bar which happens to have good local food at realistic prices. You will be rubbing elbows with fishermen, contractors and the guy who fixes your car. If that is not your expectation, you will... More

We just stopped in this bar and grill on a whim while vacationing on the outer banks for Thanksgiving and what a great find it was! We ended up stopping in twice more during the week, especially for the steamed shrimp and broiled scallops, they were great. My wife even tried to call in one more order our last night... More

This is a no frills, family-owned, long established place. We cannot visit Hatteras Island without at least one or two lunches/dinners at Pop's. It's a tiny place, with the bar and all (10 or 12?) tables served by the bartender. I cannot find fried oysters as good as these, anywhere else. When they have local, fresh caught flounder and do... We had the Seafood Feast which was served on paper plates, however it was what was on the paper plates that made it worth the visit. Both the Boiled and lightly fried Shrip were great, the Crab Legs were perfect and all the rest was well prepared, not fancy, just really good food.

I took my dear husband on a day trip to the Outer Banks. While there we needed to eat. Wandered in to Pop's Raw Bar. Entered into a large open room with a large "U"shaped bar. On the outer wall sat about 10-12 tables(most are 2 seat bistro type). One waitress/barmaid who was not only friendly and cheerful, but knowledgeable... More

Wish we could have found this place sooner. Just like places I'm used to. Food was excellent, and at a nice price. Service was great being that 1 girl ran the whole place. She was great.

Pop's is a small, unassuming bar with a few high top tables. My partner and I took seats at the bar and were greated immediately in a friendly manner by the server/bartender. I started with raw oysters which were very fresh, ice cold, and reasonably large. Then I had a Carolina Bbq sandwich-- a bakery style bun stacked with very... More

This is a great little raw bar to go to. It's small so don't take a huge crowd. They have a bar and maybe 10 tables (my guess). There was one waitress who not only had a great personality but she was on the ball. You see all types of folks in there (families, bikers, etc). Very laid back atmosphere.... More
