Description: We are a casual dining restaurant located on the Pamlico Sound in Buxton. We have been serving lunch and dinner on the Outer Banks for 13 years now, six in Hatteras until Hurricane Isabel took our building away, and then we blew up the road to Buxton for the last seven years. At this time lunch is served Monday thru Friday 11-3, and dinner is served nightly at 5pm. All of our soups are homemade, we serve an assortment of fresh seafood daily, as well as sandwiches, steaks, ribs, and pastas. We have live music on Wednesdays this summer, and some form of entertainment at least one nite of every weekend. Hope to see you there!!

This is the first place we go when we get into town. Love the food and atmosphere. Be sure to go outside on the porch and check out the awesome view. The wait staff is friendly and helpful. Love this place and will return year after year!

Fabulous Food & Drinks! Priced well & casual atmosphere. Staff was very nice! My group order the boiled shrimp which we thought were the best we'd ever eaten; the filet topped with crab meat which was amazing & the stuffed tilapia. All were wonderful & we had a wonderful evening!

There are not too many restaurants open in February in the Outer Banks and I think the Sandbar just recently reopened. During our stay we ate here twice. My wife had the crab legs special and I had the stuffed flounder. Their mussels are terrific. You will ask for extra bread to soak up the broth. The server went out... More

We own a rental house in Avon (Kinnakeet Hi), and decided to spend a weekend at the beach (had to get away from all the snow), in the winter time, OBX area is pretty much a ghost town, not a lot of places to eat... So we decided to take a drive and came upon this little gem of a... More

We spend several weeks a year in the Outer Banks, and we always do a lot of fishing. We love to take our fresh catch to the Sandbar… The chefs at the Sandbar do an incredible job preparing our fresh catch – we have brought in Mahi, Wahoo, Yellow and Black Fin Tuna, and have had it prepared several ways:... We ate here at the beginning of November, the steamed shrimp and mashed potatoes were excellent, portions were huge. My husband ordered the prime rib which was the Friday night special, and while huge it looked and tasted like roast beef, not prime rib. Service was businesslike, as was the hostess. Neither were friendly. I'd go back again for the... More

Our wonderfully helpful waiter suggested that since we were just ordering drinks, it was OK to take them out to the second-floor deck and get a load of the great view. We actually ordered an appetizer too and came back in for that. The view was so WIDE as there is nothing much on the sides of the building and... More

We had a pretty good meal at this restaurant. The food wasn't bad. The portions were generous and it was fairly reasonable. The waiter was friendly and helpful. He did a great job of serving us efficiently. There is a nice view of the water!

The food is very good and the proportions are adequate. This is obviously a restaurant where the chef's experience in preparation for great taste is certainly noticed. My wife and I ate there one night and the next we took two other couples... yes it's that good.

Half bar (but remember Dare County is a 'dry' county, so only beer and wine), half restaurant, the upstairs has great views overlooking the Pamlico Sound. Very good, but typical Hatteras seafood fare. Great for families early, or adults hanging out later.

Just wanted to let you know, liquor by the drink was passed in December of 2010, so Hatteras Island has had full bars (if the individual restaurant chose to get the permit) since the beginning of 2011, which we have. I'm sure the hostess gave you a cocktail menu with your dinner menu when you were seated. So you know... More
