Went here on a somewhat busy night, but it wasn’t full. First round of wine ordered took quite a while and when I queried the delay I was told my selection wasn’t in stock. Several couples who came in after us had finished their meals before we got ours? Had to ask another waiter to find our waitress to get... More

I was in Brevard for a day trip with my folks, and this restaurant had come highly recommended by a friend. The Square Root is located about halfway down a lane/alley off of Main Street. It has a funky vibe with local artwork on the walls and recycled wooden floors. We were seated promptly just before noon - the restaurant... More

Stopped by yesterday for lunch around 2:15pm. We were told after we ordered that a large party (20plus) were waiting for their food and it would be 20-30 minutes. Since it was raining lightly, we decided to stay and ordered appetizers. Those came quickly and were good. From that point on it went downhill. It was 45 minutes before we... More

Servers and cooks are willing to go the extra mile to accommodate special requests from customers - like me.- Love the decorations in the bar and paintings in general, including fancy frames. Seems the place itself used to be the printing room for a local newspaper many years ago and the floor still keeps it's original strong wood supports while... More

We ordered fried green tomatoes and eggplant; both to our dismay had a thick greasy crust of a what appeared to be cornmeal batter (think: a really greasy hush-puppy). We also had zucchini fries, another big mistake. We couldn't taste any of the vegetables in this dish, leaving us to believe that the cook hates the taste of vegetables and... More

We have been coming to the Square Root for years. It a great lunch spot tucked away in a side alley in Brevard. A local gem for it's upscale and fresh food prep with an interesting interior to match it's uniqueness. Check out the wood tile floors and amazing bar, but don't forget the food here is also special. It's... More

Pros: Serving size, location Cons: Price, staff, food We arrived for an early dinner and there were many open tables. The hostess was quite friendly but the manager was quite pompous. The waitress was quite nice and the portions large, but neither could salavage the dinner. The drinks were bitter. The food looked nice but lacked any flavor and was... More

Ate at Square Root in February with several friends, and had great experience, so I returned today with 2 friends. We arrived shortly after 2:00 pm, and noted only a couple of tables on the porch were unoccupied. Inside we found that about half the tables were open. We found it strange, then, to be greeted (and by "greeted" I... More

I'm in love with Brevard and Square Root is part of the reason why. First, I love the setting, tucked away in an alley, across the street from a chocolate shop. Second, my server, Bobby, was attentive and pleasant even-though he was busy. The food was outstanding! It may have been the best pork chop I've ever had!

We've been visiting Brevard for years & have eaten at Square Roots quite a few times. Not sure we'll be back after tonight. We had made reservations and showed up on time. After being seated, we waited 20 minutes without anyone taking a drink order. My husband went inside to ask for a server and I asked one of the... More
