When we lived in Brevard this was one of our favorite places to eat. Now when we visit our friends there we make it a point to stop at "The Root" for cocktails and dinner. A little hard to find but well worth the effort.

We ate here several times during our vacation in Brevard. The service is friendly, fast, and efficient. The food is wonderful. Beautiful presentation, My wife and I both enjoyed the hanger steak. The restaurant is in an old building in an alley. (There is a great chocolate shop across the alley).

Every time I have friends or family cone for a visit, I make sure we eat here. The food is great. The atmosphere is nice in either the bar, the restaurant or the patio.

We were not disappointed at all! Our waiter was great and the food was even better! We had the pecan encrusted Brie and the sweet tea brined chicken...SO GOOD!

We spent two days exploring Asheville and stayed over at the B&B on Tiffany Hill. One night we were too tired to go back into Asheville and the Square Root was recommended. It was the BEST meal of the whole trip. It is hidden in an alley in Brevard and very cozy. The hickory mollases pork ribeye was delicious and... More

The Square Root is a delightful, cozy little restaurant hidden in the alley-way of downtown Brevard. My husband and I visited tonight and had a enjoyable meal with superb service. The special was a specially prepared salmon, which I had, and my husband had the best tasting filet mignon he has ever eaten. Our servers name was Bobby, and he... More

Amazing food and amazing atmosphere. The brie appetizer is an absolute must have. I would have ordered two, it was that good! Entrees were flavorful and the dessert was moist. This is a must do if in Brevard!

I have dined numerous times at the Square Root, and find it to be consistently one of the better experiences in Brevard. The staff are friendly, the food is fresh and imaginative, and it's dog-friendly, weather permitting. It's our go-to place when in town.

I've always been pleased with Square Root's food but have had 2 consecutive bad experiences with their wait staff. About a year ago, we took out of town friends to eat there. The waitress was not only not friendly, she was rude: no eye contact, seemed irritated to have to be waiting on us, never checked back with us after... More

Pork! Try the pork chop or pork shank. Choose either one and you'll have a great meal. This restaurant is tucked back in an alleyway that's right off of the main street. There's free parking nearby.
