We were on vacation in Johnson City, Tennessee to ride some Southern Dozen rides. We did one that brought us through Boone. The cafe patio was packed and that is usually a good sign. We were not disappointed. We ate inside the cafe and it was quite charming- antiques, retro tables and chairs, local artist printings. The waitress was friendly... More

We met some friends here for brunch on Sunday. It was amazing. There was a very long wait and they don't take reservations, but we knew that going in and used the time to catch up with our friends. Once we sat, we were served very quickly. I had my go -to brunch order: scrambled eggs, bacon, grits, and toast.... More

We frequent Melanie's several times a year while staying at our cabin in Vilas. The food is always tasty, portions large and their homemade bread is delicious! Don't forget to try the apple butter it is some of the best around. We usually have breakfast but the sandwiches for lunch are also great. The outdoor seating is great on a... More

We were on our way to "Our Daily Bread," our usual lunch place when in Boone; however, it was gorgeous weather and we wanted to be outdoors. Melanie's has a large outdoor dining area. Breakfast at lunch is a favorite. The server was very nice. My husband ordered an omelet which was very good. It came with toast and home... More

Very fun place with lots of interesting food and the vibe is like healthy bohemian stoner. No trip to Boone should be permitted w/o stopping in at Melanie's

When we go to Boone, we always make sure to have breakfast at Melanie's. They serve a great French Toast that is prepared with a special kind of bread they make at the restaurant. I usually opt for the Multi-Grain Pancakes. They're the best MG Pancakes I've ever had. The one suggestion I would make is that they do not... More

Tried because of the reviews. Thought the food was expensive for breakfast and was just OK. Service was OK too. The best part of experience was the location and patio.

Melanie's never fails at delivering quality breakfast. Everything I have had there has been delicious and the atmosphere is cute and quaint. I know the breakfast places get slammed, but the staff doesn't seem very attentive, especially to tables that aren't theirs, even if the guests are looking around like lost hush puppies. Staff could be nicer with less attitude!

Came here after reading reviews, we needed a place to satisfy a vegetarian, a picky eater, and carnivores. This place hit it all. The Fruit waffle and stuffed French Toast were great. My picky guy had grilled cheese with fruit and ate every bite. My husband and I had butter burgers. They were very good, but could have been a... More

Love the outdoor seating area and their local breakfast. We ate here our first morning in Boone and ended up returning two more times. The service is great and the food is delicious, love the patio.
