Had dinner last night, my wife had fishtacos, I had the soup of the day. Soup was excellent. Tacos were very good as well. Nice patio for outdoor dining. Sever was very nice and attentive. The real attractions would be the banana cream pie....what a nice desert, light, creamie and fresh. What a... read more

We were looking for a new restaurant to try on a recent visit to Boone NC and decided upon the Red Onion Café. The menu had something for everyone, so many great options. Our waitress was wonderful, she spent time talking about the menu and making several suggestions. We decided to try the pimento cheese appetizer and shared the Thai... More

Love to find local cuisine. French Onion soup was fantastic. Nice atmosphere and easy to find. The staff was very knowledgeable about the menu and made several recommendations.

We ate here as it seemed like a cool little option as we came into Boone, and i usually prefer locally owned places to larger chains. With smaller children, we definitely felt a little out of place here. The place did seem to have an elegant charm to it- if I were on a date id say it fit the... More

Very nice cafe right opposite the campus of the Appalachian State University. Wonderful menu choices and friendly service make this a great place to stop for lunch or dinner. Outdoor seating is available during the warmer months.

I haven't been here in years - my salmon salad was fine, but it wasn't anything special. Felt I could have gotten the same thing at one of the chain restaurants. I will return and try something different. Pleasant wait staff.

We have eaten at The Red Onion for at least 20 years and last December I even wrote a good review about it. Over the past two months, however, the meals have not been up to their normal standard taste-wise or portion-wise. We ate there several times recently and have now decided not to return for some time....it is just... More

We ate at this restaurant for an evening meal. The food was fine but the service was terrible. It took about 15 minutes for anyone to come to the table to even ask us about our drinks. We then waited for them to take our order. It took forever for the food to be served. We saw our waitress twice,... More

We stopped here on the recommendation of a friend. Not entirely my style of restaurant, but my wife and daughter liked it. The onion rings (appetizer) were excellent. There was plenty of food on the plate and the prices were reasonable.

We met our daughter here for a late lunch, and had excellent service and wonderful food. The salads were beyond perfect! Our service was prompt, very courteous, and quite thoughtful. The only drawback is that it's a little noisy....
