The weather could not have been much worse today, but that didn't stop me from trying out Cafe' Portofinos. The building it is in used to be a maintenance station for the Tweetsie Railroad. The floors in the restaurant are a testament to it's age. There is a separate bar area and also some pool tables. There is a wide variety... More

I've been going to this place for years, the food is average, overpriced, and easily duplicated at home. Servers are just eh with a few decent exceptions, and if you go to experience the bar, it's very possible you may be yelled at at the door or simply turned away/not served without explanation. Bar staff are often extremely rude and... More

Great prices, relaxed atmosphere, wide selection of foods to choose from and a bar to the side away from the restaurant. I am a repeat customer & love this local establishment.

I visited this restaurant in May and it was great! The atmosphere is laid back and the food is great for the price. I had the fried green tomato BLT and it was the best sandwich I've ever eaten! Check it out!!

We recently revisited Café Portofino with friends who had never been there and were visiting for the weekend. We were hopeful it would be as good as the last time we were there, and it did not disappoint. We were told by our server there is a new chef who has been there about 2 months, so there were changes... More

When I was in grad school at Appalachian State University, this was my favorite it’s-payday-I-can-splurge place to eat. My husband and I recently visited Boone for the day and I took him to Café Portofino, hoping that my warm, wonderful memories wouldn’t be crushed. I shouldn’t have worried. It has still the same no frills ambiance, creative food, and outstanding... More

We were looking for a restaurant with outdoor seating to take advantage of the nice weather, so we tried Café Portofino based on the recommendations on Trip Advisor. It is a fun, upbeat location frequented by students from the local university. They have a varied, reasonably-priced menu and our server was knowledgeable about the various options when we had questions.... More

Whether you want a casual lunch or a special dinner, Cafe Portofino will deliver. The menu has a nice variety of appetizers, sides, entrees and dessert. .The wine list offers great choices. The chef demonstrates creativity and finesse with food while keeping it comfortable and sophisticated at the same time.

If I could give a negative star rating, I would. The service was poor. Granted it was graduation weekend BUT there were empty tables all around us (should have been a big clue to us) BUT we waited 1 hr and 15 mins for our food. We asked the waiter and manager and were told "we are really busy". Did... More
