When nothing else in town is open Six Pence is and always welcoming with good food, drink and service. Very nice pub atmosphere with much UK memorabilia in the decor. Cheers!

Visited for dinner. I got fish and chips, my husband got open faced roast beef sandwich with gravy. Both were decent. I guess your average pub food. Service was slow, even though we were one of only two tables sitting out on patio.

Fish and chips, shepherds pie, and soup and 1/2 corned beef sandwich.....not a winner out of three choices. Not even close. None of these are complicated or unusual to prepare. Onion soup was tasteless, shepherds pie had a strange spice in it, and chips were limp potato slices. Fish was just OK. Potato fritter appetizer was better than anything else.... More

This place was recommended by a friend. We went on a Wednesday in August around 2Pm for a shopping break in Blowing Rock. They were not very busy. The staff was very young and pleasant but got 2 out of 4 orders wrong. The food was uninspiring and their French Onion soup was tasteless. They were playing heavy metal music... More

What a gem of a Pub! Heavy wood bar, and a wide variety Beers. But the food is much more than you would expect in a British-themed Pub. Wife had the usual Fish-n-Chips; but I had a HUGE Salmon BLT (had to cut it up -- even this Big Mouth could not bite it!) Our friend had a marvelous grilled... More

I make it a point to visit Six Pence Pub every time I go to Blowing Rock. Consistently solid, friendly and attentive service, wonderful food and interesting and fun ambience. Great music playing on the terrace, terrific people-watching venue and dog-friendly (outside). I wish they took reservations, but given the size of the place, I can understand why they wouldn't.

When we go to Blowing Rock, we have made it a recent habit to go to the Six Pence Pub for lunch while we are there. Both times we've been there have been great. The sandwiches are very good, the portions are more than adequate, and the service is good. We enjoyed sitting at the bar to avoid waiting for... More

So I am British and so I liked seeing a British pub in the USA. This may have probably been because it shows that pubs are not just an Irish thing but it's a cool and qwurky place with memorabilia of the queen and the restrooms are marked the "loo". Had lunch there which I would say was average but... More

After a morning of exploring around the Moses Cone house and grounds a few miles away on the Blue Ridge Parkway, we drove over to Blowing Rock for lunch. Very busy/crowded because it was a beautiful day and we're getting close to the end of the season. Six Pence Pub was a few blocks up the Main Street from where... More

Sat both on the outdoor patio and inside. It is very small inside but cozy. The salmon was really good and so was the tomato bisque. Fish and chips could be better.
