Good ambiance - Fine food

The Best Cellar is located in the excellent Inn at Ragged Gardens. The front dining room and porch are the most pleasant in my opinion. Extensive wine list and a fairly diverse menu. All courses were wonderful, starting with pimento cheese and naan, butternut squash soup, and then shrimp and grits and fresh trout, culminating in desserts served in cast iron skillets. Casual atmosphere and friendly servers.

We recently had a wonderful dinner at the Best Cellar (The Inn at Ragged Gardens). We were staying at Gideon Ridge Inn and they would not let us eat there even though we were paying guest for three nights. (Long story.) We will be staying at The Inn at Ragged Gardens next year. We had the beef medallions and they... More

Located in a very charming old house, The Best Cellar was a nice find in Blowing Rock. The wine list is okay, not a lot of choices, but I found a good savignon blanc. I selected the North Carolina Mountain Trout with shrimp and Louisiana Creole Sauce. It was very nice. The entree comes with a starch and vegetables so... More

In the past we have had very good service and the food was well prepared. On the 19th of Aug 2015 we and 2 other couples went to Best Cellar to celebrate their anniversary. We had reservations for 7PM and arrived on time. We were seated quickly but did not have a waitress to get our drinks for over 25... More

Reservations are necessary but the service and food was excellent, as were the menu items as well as the specials. And it's a bit pricey so we were there on a special occasion. Not pricey necessarily for Blowing Rock, but for me.

We enjoyed a wonderful dinner in Blowing Rock at The Best Cellar. The food is always wonderful. The filet was so good and the baked acorn squash with butter and brown sugar is like dessert. We sat outside on the porch and enjoyed the great weather. Be sure to eat here when in Blowing Rock. Reservations are important.

Had a wonderful dinner with mountain trout , oyster salad and the seafood sampler. Everything was perfectly cooked especially the fried oysters. Topped it off with banana cream pie. Great restaurant and great server, Leif !!

Every Friday night in the summer there is music on the lawn at the Inn at Ragged Gardens where this restaurant is located. Heard an amazing Blue Grass band, found out about the Best Cellar restaurant, and was able to get a last minute reservation since it is really crowded on Friday nights in the summer. The ambience was elegant... More

7 people in the party. We were lucky enough to be seated in the Cave, by prior arrangement. Each person enjoyed a different entree. I had BBQ scallops, sensational. Another had duck crispy, yet moist. My husband had the pork chop. We were all happy with our choices. Appetizer of seafood sampler. I can recommend that. Ending the meal with... More
