My husband is in Blowing Rock without me this week and he asked me specifically to write a review for him. He said it was one of the best meals he's had this year, and he eats out for lunch almost every day. He had the pan fried trout, potatoes, and spinach. This is the same dinner we had there... More

On our last day in area we stopped in for a light lunch. We had noticed each time we went by they seemed to be busy. On our visit we we wondering why the crowds. The building needs some TLC to say the least. Getting beyond that, our lunch order was taken and we sat outside. Tables were not the... More

We went there on a recommendation from someone. I wonder if they had eaten there recently. As we walked up to the restaurant, I noticed that the paint was peeling on the outside and there were other signs of neglect, but we decided to go on anyway. The inside also looked a bit shabby and was stuffy, so we asked... More

Can't believe it's still open. Terrible food, old building, horrible atmosphere. Only good thing about the place is it has several "reserved" parking spaces - which are at a premium for downtown Blowing Rock.

Fresh ingredients & friendly staff make this a nice place for lunch - if a bit pricey. The lunch menu was quite limited and featured mainly deli fare - hot or cold. There is a goid wibe selection. Dinners here are recommended by many locals. Located at the edge of downtown, it's an easy walk.

The food was OK, and we ate outside, which was essentially a covered patio on a corner at a major intersection. Yet the setting was OK and preferable to what I saw inside. Service was fine. I had coffee with my meal, and it was lukewarm. They replaced it with hot coffee. Others had coffee after the meal and suffered... More

This ranks as one of the best meals I have had in a restaurant in a long time. The bread was so hot and fresh we had to let it cool to cut it. The fried green tomatoes we had as an appetizer were perfectly prepared. We had trout (their specialty) for our entree and it was excellent - seasoned... More

We were in BR last month and wanted to grab a bite at a casual place. We found The Speckled Trout and are so glad we did. We sat on the deck out front and were immediately greeted by a pleasant young man who took excellent care of us. Dinner was delicious and the service was wonderful. We've been to... More

I am so disappointed. This used to be a nice little hole in the wall type place to get a good little lunch. I should have known when I went in and most of the tables were empty. When you go in the door the menu is now written up on the wall and the girl at the register takes... More

VERY disappointing! The waiter and chef were very nice, but it did not make up for the poor quality of food. My crab cakes were probably two to three days old and reheated. Very dry and bland, and expensive.
