We stopped in Blowing Rock in time for the 4th July Parade and pulled into the first available parking space which was at the Speckled Trout. We waited in line to order our food from a limited menue on the wall. The food was ok, nothing special or exciting - just food.

Front porch dining with great food and cold beer! 30 years of excellence with great local cuisine. Known for...Speckled Trout!

Don't understand the bad reviews! Our Sunday evening (07/26/15) dinners were super! Pan-Fried Trout and Fried Oysters & Shrimp. Restaurant reminds you of yesteryear - before all the glitz and glamour. But, the food was delicious. Herb and Cheddar Mashed potatoes made from Roasted Potatoes; Cole Slaw, made with 1/2 mayo and 1/2 vinegar certainly "hit the spot". Will return... More

Impossible to know when the place is open! Food and service vary widely OK to terrible! Years ago, we would take folks there when other places in town had lines too long to wait. No more.

There were a few parties seated outside, and the sign said "since 1986" so we figured it must be okay. The special was live Maine lobster, which my wife ordered. She asked about the preparation as it was very tough. Our server admitted he'd never had lobster before. They took it off the bill, so I'll give them credit for... More

We were looking forward to a delicious meal of the local trout. The restaurant was hot and not very clean. Wait staff was not attentive. No bread was served before the meal because they burnt the bread. The trout was served under cooked. The rice side dish was clearly from a mix. I would not return!

Excellent local Rainbow Trout, well cooked ! Cozy and quiet restaurant in a nice little town of Blowing Rock. The cook recommend us to go to the Super 8 hotel in Boone which is about 15 minutes drive which saved me $50.00 from my hotel bill.

There's plenty of competition for diners in Blowing Rock and we were going to try the most popular spot but were deterred by a 2-hour wait. Instead we tried out the Speckled Trout and really enjoyed it. The service is friendly and quick; the seafood very good indeed. Wine is especially good value.
