Southern Comforts is the new name for the old Knights on Main in Blowing Rock. the new owners are the former Mountain House owners from Boone. Rumors abound about why they moved and changed their name after 25+ years. The service hasn't changed a bit. the owner has her reputation and apparently there are many who like it. Many don't.... We were pleasantly surprised at Southern Comforts, which is where Knights on Main was. It is excellent food. We were a little hesitant as we had been regular customers of Knights for years. The food is home cooking, well-prepared, just plain delicious. And the prices are reasonable. We were in Blowing Rock 2 weeks ago and stayed for 2 nights... More

This restaurant has been closed for over a year. It was terrible- both food and service including lunch and dinner.

I was visiting from Raleigh with my Yankee mother in law from NY. Our waiter, Pete, was really nice and provided amazing service even though my mother in law gave him a hard time about the food. It was obvious that the food was frozen and not prepared in house. The mashed potatoes were oddly colored and cold as well... More

See review for Glidewells--processed cheese square on top of french onion soup that never melted, frozen mush fries and unremarkable burger. Wish I'd spent the money at the grocery store & cooked at home.

I don't know how to rate this one. The name brought us in, along with the historical building. Once in its not inviting just cold tables and chairs all over on one side and huge bar on other. Next room is small but nice with fire place. Now comes service the young waiter was trying but seems no training is... More

We waited 40 minutes to have soup and wings. Denied! None of our three top choices we wanted were available. We were forced to chose from 4 options. The fried tomatoes were good. Everything else was greasy and poorly prepared. They clearly have buckets of a cheesy pimento spread they add to everything. We all got sick after eating here.... More

After Six Pence told us we'd have a 30-35 minute wait before us (and that we'd get the same wait elsewhere), we went across the street to MK's Southern Cooking. I thought it was a bit odd that the plastic summer chairs and tables outside were coated with snow rather than stacked somewhere indoors, but it wasn't until we entered... More

We are here before seeing other reviews. It is a simple restaurant with a limited menu. But price is consistent with a fast lunch menu and food was average tasting. Our staff was very attentive and very fast in bringing our order, and this was on a busy holiday Sunday. Recommended for a quick fix.
