Best Lunch in Black Mountain

Alas, they are only open for lunch. All of their soups are home made and absolutely delicious. (Don't miss the Hungarian Mushroom soup! Every single morsel I have ever consumed, and there have been many on numerous occasions, has been outstanding!

Clam chowder served on Fridays is tied for number one with a place in Baltimore. Quick service Attentive wait staff without being interfering. Love it

We eat at the Veranda every visit to Black Mountain. Unique little restaurant. Love the umbrella decorations. Food is always consistently good. Great service and great tasting food.

The Veranda has excellent specials, sandwiches and service, but they really excel in their soups. It's not on their menu, at least the last time I was there, but they have a soup sampler of 3 of their daily choices that comes with pita points or bread slices depending on the day. It can't be beat! Their Paprika Mushroom cream... More

We came to Black Mountain to enjoy the quaint shops and have lunch at this lovely little spot. We all ordered from the Grilled Sandwiches side of the menu and can highly recommend The Cuban, The Bavarian Pretzel Club, The Muffuletta and The Grilled 3-Cheese sandwiches. We're pretty sure the rest of the menu is just as delicious with traditional... More

Every item on the menu is fresh and perfectly prepared. My favorite is the turkey, cranberry and brie sandwich with a cup of soup. The potato soup here is my favorite but all of the soups are just wonderful. Save room for dessert as they have a good selections.

The menu is full of interesting choices and the food was excellent--we had sandwiches and soup for lunch. The highlight was the coconut cake--just wow! Great friendly staff, too.

This is a great place to eat, always has several soup selections to choose from and a variety of made to order sandwiches. But, to me, the true stars of this place are their daily specials!!!! I love their meatloaf, their oven fried chicken, their broccolli pudding, their carmelized onions on anything, and who could forget their mock chuu corn... More

Wife and I went for lunch on a Friday and arrived at 11:15 am. By the time we left, the place was full of patrons. Liked the atmosphere. Our sandwishes were good but nothing special, and the side order (chips) were such a small portion as to be hardly noticed. Both of us ordered a cup of potato soup with... More

We ate here for lunch to start off our day of shopping. The food was really good. I had the shrimp and grits and my friend had soup and salad. The meal was delicious.
