Have passed by here before as it always appears too crowded and haven't had the time to wait. Today it seemed to have a line, too,, but it turned out that we were seated pretty quickly, and as it turns out, it was well worth the short wait. On a chilly day we were looking for soup and sandwich, and... More

The Veranda is an above average lunch spot in Black Mountain. They have a good variety of sandwiches and soups and usually something out of the ordinary. The place is a little crowded but you could call it cozy. Service has always been good. There can be a wait during peak lunch time but it is worth the wait.

Once we discovered this place, it has been a favorite for what we call a tea party with my daughter and grandkids. They will give the children each a small teapot and cup with whatever to drink. A number of specialty items for sale as well as food.

We had a lunch here on Tuesday afternoon. A slight wait for 5 minutes. Delicious soups, homemade, good specials-- fish tacos were great-, Hungarian mushroom soup over the top! A wonderful local place, good polite service, reasonable pricing. We will definitely be back

Cute little place with a different menu. Soup was fantastic and prices very reasonable. They are only open until 3pm so it is only a lunch stop. We will be returning here on our next time thru though

Two of us arrived about ten minutes before the posted closing time for lunch but we were greeted warmly and seated without question. The menu is eclectic, varied, and tasty. We each had soup and sandwich and each one was delightful. It is small and obviously well-run by locals. Don't miss it!

My husband and I had lunch here which visiting Black Mountain. I had the turkey with cranberry chutney and sweet potato & apple bisque and my husband had the McDibbs Roast Beef Au Jus sandwich and southern caviar. The food was absolutely fabulous! And the ambiance was delightful.
