Good food, good atmosphere

The food is very good & the atmosphere inside & on the deck is nice. I just wish they were open for dinner & not just lunch.

My husband and I were in Black Mountain visiting family. We asked a shopkeeper where to go for lunch.. "Go to the Veranda. It's the best in town." We got there at 12:15 pm on a Tuesday. All the tables were full, except one that just left. The host, who we learned was one of the owners helped a staff... More

Lovely restaurant in the heart of Black Mountain. Our friends own a home in Montreat and this is their favorite restaurant. We dined for lunch last week and the food was delicious and reasonably priced. I had the tomato basil soup (excellent) and 1/2 chicken salad sandwich combo. Hungarian mushroom soup was a favorite at our table of ten. The... More

Had a delightful lunch today. The dishes we had were soups, sandwiches, greek gyro and tomato pie. LOVED the tomato pie but I think it's a seasonal dish. The side dishes were all delicious! Worth the stop!

Black Mountain has a small quaint downtown area and the Veranda Cafe is one of the gems in town. It is right on historic Cherry Street (right up from the Old Depot). They are just open for lunch (11-3) but the homemade food is delicious. They have indoor seating and a small outdoor deck where we sat. I started off... More

A group of 10 friends met her for lunch - the restaurant was great in accommodating our large group. The food is all homemade and every lunch looked fantastic and all plates were empty at the end of the meal. The service was excellent and the staff are very friendly and personable!

We spent a day in Black Mountain, NC, touring the area near Asheville. Black Mountain is a charming place, and we were pleased that Veranda Cafe was there. We had the Hungarian Mushroom Soup, which was really tasty. Then we had fresh sandwiches, and a home made chocolate chip cookie. The food was perfect for lunch, and the service was... More

For a nice relaxed atmosphere restaurant free of chain influence, the Veranda makes very nice soups (six today), sandwiches, wraps and salads. I've now tried them twice, and have been happy both times. They also sell a few gift items, which they use to decorate the place. Built in an older brick storefront in downtown Black Mountain, there are many... More
