I have only lived in Black Mountain for a short amount of time, but the Dark City Deli has become one of my favorite places. I can't tell you what my favorite choice is because each time I go I try something new and it becomes my new favorite! Lots of vegetarian choices that are really very good! Good food,... More

Taking a short diversion off the Interstate, into the quaint little village of Black Mountain, NC, my wife and I threaded the narrow little streets in search of a lunch spot that would be both local and memorable. We definitely found it... The Dark City Deli & Pub was a delight! The day was rainy and dreary but we were... More

A very quaint place to grab a bite while visiting Cherry Street in Black Mountain. Tasty food, great beer and very nice atmosphere make this a very popular place.

We all wanted a good hamburger for lunch so we chose Dark City Deli. We were greeted as we walked in and seated immediately. The waitress came to the table quickly. And, then began the wait. We all ordered hamburgers and understood that it takes awhile to cook it. Took longer than we had anticipated. When she brought them, they... More

We were greeted warmly by the sandwich maker as we entered and as he promised were seated promptly by the owner. She actually went out her way to clean a table by the window for us. Subsequently the young waitress by the name of Emma showed us just the right amount of attention. I had reservations about ordering the Cuban... More

This was the only restaurant during our tour that was disappointing. We were offered marinated chicken skewers and mine were not totally cooked. It was unfortunate and our host appoligized but after stopping at all this other wonderful places it was not a big deal to find one place not at par with the rest.

While visiting dear friend in Black Mountain, we grabbed a leisurely lunch al fresco at Dark City. It was a perfect late summer day and we enjoyed our vegetarian sandwiches - she had the Fun Guy and I had The Peppers, as I was told pimiento cheese is a big tradition in this neck of the woods. The artisanal breads... More

I have been there 3 times -once eating there and twice takeout. Third time is not a charm. When there, the service was slow and food mediocre. Both times I didh takeout they got it wrong. This time it could have been harmful to me as the did not use gluten free bread as ordered. I had to throw the... More
