Very nice staff and atmosphere. My husband and I ate here for lunch, intending to eat just enough to tide us over until our evening meal. However, the food selections sounded so good we couldn't resist ordering the larger platters. They have selections of burgers, sandwiches and the larger platters are schnitzels, sausages, etc. Their cucumber salad, German potato salad... More

This was our 3rd time dining here and everything remains at the top. Friendliness and fantastic what more can I say. Our 15 year old granddaughter was with us this time and her statement after trying my bratwurst was "Never tasted sausage this good." I agree.

Very nice staff. Extensive wine and beer selection, but only one German beer on draft. Wurst platter with house made sauerkraut and German potato salad was very good. The special was schnitzel with a cucumber dill sauce that was very good, 3 folks in our party had that and one said hers was a little over done. Very enjoyable time... More

While staying in Black Mountain overnight to fetch my son from summer camp, I came across this German restaurant while headed to a Mexican restaurant recommended to me by a hotel employee. I decided to give it a try and was very pleased with my dining experience. The restaurant is small and has a bar area and so I decided... More

The Berliner is about as German as you will find in the mountains. The owner is hands-on, the staff is friendly, and the chef is really good! The atmosphere is homey with a German pub flair and the beer selection is good.

Good, simple German food served in a homey atmosphere. The German owner comes out to make sure you are enjoying your meal. We have gone several times over the years and always return for the good food and service.

Maybe I just don't like German food, but when a plate with those three things, not even put together, just thrown onto the plate, arrive, I was all like "Nah, we won't be back."

Driving home through the Blue Ridge and found this through our GPS. Always on the hunt for German food (having been to Germany several times) and knowing how rare such places are in America we immediately set out to find this place. It was a Sunday and the place ws not crowded, but was well trafficed as one would expect... More

Went here for our anniversary lunch with high expectations but the food (we each had schnitzels) was just okay and the meat was tiny. Beautiful space, but I left disappointed.

Went for lunch, very good place to dine. Beer prices were quite reasonable. 12,16, or 18 oz drafts. HB Maibock was good. The food seemed to be cooked to order, as it was not flying right out the kitchen, which we like. That means the food isnt just sitting there waiting to be served out. The appetizer potato pancakes were... More
