This was an outstanding dining experience. Food is amazing, prices are very reasonable and the service was perfect. The owners and staff were warm and welcoming and the setting, inside or out, is beautiful. We thought the prices were very reasonable for food and wine. You will remember a wonderful dining experience at the Palate. I have not found any... More

We spent the night at the Monte Vista Hotel so the restaurant was convenient for us. We sat on the patio and enjoyed some amazing weather. The menu wasn't large and the prices were on the high side but the food was good and the service excellent. I ordered the steak and it was a little fatty for my liking... More

I've never had a bad experience at Palate. It is pushing the pricey side for what you get, but the food is quite good and the atmosphere is great. I suggest dining on the patio when the weather is nice. Grab a cocktail from the bar and enjoy a great meal.

An elegant dining experience in Black Mountain! Great entrees prepared by Chef Polo with great wine pairings. You can dine in the main restaurant or on the patio. The bar is a great place to have a drink. Almost any evening you can meet local artists, authors and visitors.

excellent value and service. beautiful music provided on Friday evening & Sunday Brunch. best fried chicken anywhere around along with pepper pan gravy and creamy mashed potatoes. Nothing like a GOOD southern meal. My mouth is watering & I'm not even hungry. I don't want to slight the pot roast as it is good too but when you think of... More

I enjoyed my meal here. The menu is not extensive, but there are enough items to please most people, and the food and service were very good. One important warning, though: on weekends they have live music even in the dinner hour. There was a pianist / singer who was good, but he used an amplifier. We were in another... More

My husband and I went to the former restaurant at the Monte Vista Hotel several years ago. It is under new ownership and has been beautifully renovated. There are two huge dining areas, and also patio dining. We went on a Sunday afternoon after the brunch, and just ordered appetizers. We were especially excited about the fried green tomatoes since... Went there for Valentines day. They have a very limited menu, maybe 6 entrees and one special. I had a steak which was cooked perfectly but had only average taste. It was served with a vegetable and mashed potatoes which were runny and tasteless. My wife had a salad which looked perfect and would have loved it except the dressing... More

Having not been since the new owners remodeled we were pleasantly surprised. They did an excellent job remodeling the place and it is very nice. Our waiter while new did an excellent job and went back to the kitchen to get answers. Our food was served within a reasonable amount of time. All 4 meals were very well prepared and... More

Tried the Palate with some unease since the "Yelp" reviews were not that good. Since me and my partner were staying here lazy won the day. Boy were we glad we did, The food was excellent! Service was great! Prices with in reason. The music very enjoyable. We will eat and stay here again on future trips. James and Kevin
