I love pubs in the basement, something slightly illicit about it. But this one is well lit! Plenty of crafts on tap, almost all brewed in the Asheville/Black Mountain 'hood. The Pisgah Amber Ale was only $3/pint! Fried pickle chips hit the spot. Chips, not spears which tend towards the soggy. Our server, Justine, was A-One

Very nice local place! Walk down stairs on one side of the place and because its in the side of a hill you are at street level at the other side. Food was great and reasonably priced. The two man band playing that night was an awesome Blues group. The young guys voice was so great you would swear you... More

We met friends for drinks and food after driving from Washington, DC to Asheville, NC. The experience was refreshing. The food was very good. Many of the menu items were local specialties not found in other areas. The selection of beer, ale, and stout is outstanding. Most of it comes from local micro-breweries. Several nights a week there is live entertainment,... More

Overtime we are in the area, we make a point to go to Black Mtn Ale House. Great food, local craft beer and atmosphere!! Great place to dine or hang out to watch the game on Sat or Sun.

Group of friends went there for appetizers and drinks after working a show. Sat outside on patio and had a great time. Wings were the best and good craft beers.

Our helpful server was Angel, great service on a buys night. As a surprise to us, Tuesday is trivia night AND $2.50 soft taco's special (they change every week, I had a haddock /w jalapeno's, onion?) two of those would have made enough for dinner, with a side of fries maybe but no, I ordered the Pork Loin /w Swiss... We all loved our experience at the Ale House. Definitely a place we will frequent whenever we are in black mountain. The burgers were great and our waitress was super nice. We all left happy.

The place has two entrances: from Cherry St, you descend down a steep flight of stairs while on the other side of the street, you walk through an open patio to the front entrance. Either way, you're entering a fabulous place to eat. Fish and chips and a burger with German wheat beers was on the menu for us this... More
