Friendly service is what struck me first upon entering Black Mountain Ale House a couple of years ago and our latest visit showed us that in spite of other changes, the friendly vibe is still there. Lots of great beers. Outdoor and indoor seating. Games to play. Music to enjoy. The food is good but I wish they would bring... More

We all ordered fried pickles and the "grown up" grilled cheese and agreed they were the best we'd ever had. Unfortunately, the appetizers took forty minutes to come out of the kitchen. Another forty minutes later our food came out--burnt. Finally, when one of us did say something to our waitress, she only took one entree off one of bills.... More

The service was good. The food was good. Fried pickles were too salty. Burgers all around the table were well-liked. Eggplant fries were the star of the night. GreenMan ESB on tap was wonderful until they ran out. It was trivia night which made inside really loud but there is outside dining available. BMAH is a good place to get... More

My wife and I stayed in Black Mountain with another couple this past weekend (8/15 - 8/17) and had the pleasure of stopping into the Black Mountain Ale House for lunch. We were just expecting a dive kind of bar with some mediocre food, but wow were we surprised! Everything we had was top-notch and the food was extremely well-prepared... More

Very good food and the servers are very helpful! I highly recommend the Ale House as I have never eaten anything bad there. Make sure you try the Pork Chops at the very least!

Who would think of putting pimento cheese on an Angus burger... These guys! And it was magical! Great food. Awesome service. Super cool tavern-like decor. Very good prices. Can't go wrong with this one.

We went with our kids to Trivia Night for a vacation activity. The bartender was our server. She came once to see us or wait on us, but otherwise we got up and got our own water. We had to flag her down for alcohol drinks, which is ridiculous. The food arrived cold. We wanted to like this place, but... More

Thanks for your recent visit. I'm disheartened your visit was tainted by our poor service. I only wish you had let me know your frustrations while you were there so I could have tried to make up for it. Tuesday Trivia Night is always the most difficult night of the week because the restaurant usually fills all at once, and... More

The food is good... not great... but good, solid pub food. Great location and decent atmosphere. I've been here twice, both times the service was horrible! Thought I'd chance it a second time with out-of-town guests and the service was so abhorrent, my guests decided to leave without ordering (never got a chance to put in a simple drinks order... More

Thank you for your recent visit to the Ale House. I hate that we disappointed you. I only wish you had spoken to someone while you were here so could have fixed the situation immediately. We have a great bunch of folks who work really hard and take pride in making everyone feel welcome. None of us wants to see... More

Love this place; Faboo burgers and steaks, beer selection, POTATO SALAD, great servitors and atmosphere.

Thanks for your kind words. We did lunch in '13, but decided to really focus on not overextending ourselves this summer since our menu has grown so much over the last three years. But thanks! Who knows, maybe we will open for lunch again next summer. Until then, try some of our neighbor's places for lunch. There is no shortage... More
