What a relaxing place!

We actually went to this great place a couple of years ago. Loved the music, the food was average but the overall feeling here is "welcome, come in, listen to the music and relax". There are children around, crawling and walking, in and out. Everyone is friendly and anxious to please. Outdoor... read more

This road house style restaurant is outside of Black Mountain and is in the middle of the forest. They offer great local beer, food and entertainment. No fast food here, you need to plan plenty of time for your meals. That's okay, it adds to the laid back atmosphere of this place.

Took a bus load to this restaurant and had great service and food in an eclectic and very interesting atmosphere. The weather was nasty so we couldn't make use of their outdoor seating and decks. well worth the drive and the curvy road.

I travel to the area 1 or 2 times a yaer, and if anywhere near here, the straightaway is on my radar. Great food, music and service.

Been here over 5 times. Great location. Come with low expectations and service. Food is mediocre at best.

We were greeted by a friendly server who was charming. The food was delicious---great sweet potato fries. There was no issue splitting sandwich. The live music was local and enjoyable. The vistas were beautiful.

We went as a group of ten, having made reservations earlier in the day. This is a small establishment, far from the beaten path, so we erred on the side of caution. We lucked out. The food was really, really good. Our server could not have been nicer. It was a very good value. And, the live entertainment was great.... More

This is a great little restaurant nestled in the mountains of North Carolina. It is run by a family who serve great food, good beer in an environment that allows good conversation and often great music. Worth a drive in the country to visit this place. The service was extraordinary on this visit.

We stopped in for dinner at the Straightaway Cafe. Good sandwiches. Great drink prices. Live music was great. They had an outdoor firepit going on a chilly spring evening. This is the happening place to see the locals and get the feel for the area. Everyone was friendly and inviting and we will come back again!
