Certificate of Excellence 2014
Price range: $9 - $29
Cuisines: American, Asian, Pasta
Dining options: Lunch, Reservations
Description: City Kitchen is a Waterfront Restaurant with approachable American Cuisine that is kicked up a notch. Just like our great country, the chef draws from our diverse ethnic mix, with Southern, Asian, Hispanic and other influences. City Kitchen's cuisine is imaginative yet familiar. We are an unpretentious restaurant, with an inviting decor and awesome food! (Our desserts are pretty darn tasty too!) We also have a Waterfront-open air bar that is open in Season for Lunch and light bar food in the evenings. Call for hours as this is weather dependent.

We had dinner tonight at City Kitchen, which moved over the bridge from Morehead City to the more upscale environs of Beaufort in June. We arrived early, so we had a couple of beers at the little tiki bar on the ground level, and then when the restaurant opened at 5:30 moved upstairs to the second-level verandah with a wonderful... An absolutely delightful evening with family. We were warmly greeted, promptly sat, quickly served and treated like friends. The menu isn't huge but it doesn't need to be. The offerings are appealing and varied. We started with the drink special..a peach mojito. Oh. It was fresh and divine. We chose the Thai meatballs and pork belly tacos as appetizers. Both... More

Best meal that we had this week between Moorehead City, Atlantic Beach and Beaufort. We went for the crabcake and the shrimp and grits with no regrets. We don't usually go for dessert, but the Belgian chocolate cheesecake was outstanding. Great service, beautiful setting on the water and the presentation was awesome...highly recommended.

If you visited City Kitchen in the previous location in Morehead City and liked it, you will be bowled over by the new digs. Now located in Beaufort near the Michael J Smith 'airport', the restaurant is on the second floor overlooking the marina at Gallants Channel. The view is awesome. The special of the night was a slightly blackened... More

New location, same restaurant. Wonderful food! We had the Meatball Appetizer - superb! I had the Chicken over Jasmine Rice with glazed carrots and my husband had the Blackened Grouper. Both meals were delicious. We did not make reservations so we sat at the bar. Renee was the bartender and our waitress, she was wonderful. The view from the restaurant... More

Both asthetically pleasing and delicious. There are no words to describe the view of the sunset from this restaurant. Food was amazing and the service matched our high expectations. Our waitress Julia took very good care of us and made our dining experience an all around 5/5. Get the chocolate cheesecake dessert!

My wife and I had dinner on a Tues night last week; it was our first visit since it had opened at Town Creek Marina in Beaufort. We elected to eat outside on the deck and the weather was wonderful. We were promptly served and greeted when we arrived for our 6:15 reservations, and were pleasantly surprised to see the... More

Really great modern American southern food with Italian and Asian influences. Try the shrimp and grits (grits cake cooked in an Italian way excellent) for desert we sampled the Sticky Toffee cake.

For years we have saved special, occasions for the Beaufort Grocery Company. That all changed this week when we visited the new location of the City Kitchen. This restaurant is absolutely fantastic. It starts, of course, with the location overlooking the water and beautiful Beaufort. But this restaurant is much more than just a breathtaking view. Bryan and Karen Carithers have... More
