About twenty minutes after eating my takeaway, my face became flush and had a headache. These symptoms are consistent with MSG. The food was decent; I would have been inclined toward three or even four dots on its own.

My and my significant other LOVE Pho. We've eaten at a couple of Vietnamese restaurants and this was one of the best I ever had. A lot of restaurants will skimp on meat and noodles but this had plenty of both. The flavor was just right. I loved the prices of everything. I can't comment on any other food my... More

I love their food, especially the Vietnamese selections. It's a small family restaurant and they are sometimes shorthanded, so I would say go somewhere else if you're in a hurry. However, the food is always excellent and a good value. There's a reason they've been there for a decade!

I agree with the last review. Due to my love of this type of food, I would try this establishment over & over. 1 out of 3 times we found our selfs feeling sick after eatting there. Finally we decided to go only during the busy season to insure fresh food. The last time we got sick we promised never... More

Interesting menu with tons of choices. Our favorite, the Hibachi Steak is a decent size portion with lots of veggies, tender steak and brown rice. The many sauces, peanut, shrimp, mayo, or sweet n spicy accompany most of their flavorful balanced dishes. The atmosphere inside is a bit dated which is somewhat deceiving. We almost decided not to try it... More

I ate lunch for the first time yesterday. I guess if you have a craving for Japanese or Vietnamese and you don't want to drive 17 miles to Boone, then this is the place to eat. Makotos is the premier Japanese restaurant in the area. I will say the spring roll was very good; otherwise, the rest of the food... More

This is the only place to go for Japanese cuisine if you're in Banner Elk because the other restaurants don't serve Japanese food. The food is ok. Service is almost nonexistent. But If you are really craving those typical Japanese meals where they give you a fantastic cup of chicken broth with a slice of a mushroom, and a wonderful... More

There is something for everyone on the menu! Hibachi grilled items & sushi too. Sushi was really priced well. We almost went back the second night too. The grandkids split one of the hibachi dinners and there was still food left over. Four adults and 3 grand kids ate for less than $80. Wine and beer only. Service could have... More
