We were visiting friends in the mountains and had dinner one evening at the Louisiana Purchase. We were seated upstairs by the bar and had just a great experience. The menu had 3 or 4 dishes that I would have loved to have tried that evening, but upon the advice of our waiter, I choose their Louisiana BBQ Shrimp and... More

I would have loved to love this place. We had one roll each and a little scoop of butter to have before dinner. During dinner we asked for more bread and butter, and got another roll but no more butter. I ordered the jambalaya and it was just too dry. Some of the rice looked like it was just taken... More

After reading the reviews, figured we would try it. Looks so small from the outside but really cute inside. Insane wine selection and unbelievable food. Hubby had the filet and I had the veal- to die for! Highly recommended

My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful New Year's Eve dinner at Louisiana Purchase. The place and the atmosphere gave us a feel of dining in a elegant private home. We loved the Cajun dishes and the wine suggestions to complement our meal. The excellent staff was discretely in the background surveying our needs. The star of the evening was... More

The food was out of this world delicious!!!!!! We waited a little longer than I thought would be usual (at this price range) between courses but the wait staff was very quick to respond with drinks, water, bread. This place obviously has a fantastic chef and we considered the extra wait between courses due to reduction in staff for this... More

Cajun at its best. Local flavor and a wine list to die for. All the Cajun dishes are very authentic, and the pate is awesome. The staff if great and very knowledgeable; while the atmosphere compliments everything. If you are in the NC mountains, don't miss out.

We decided to try this restaurant while spending a few days enjoying the fall foliage in the N. C. mountains. So glad we did. The food was great and much of it locally sourced and so fresh. Our favorite was the lamb shank which my husband ordered two nights in a row! They have a good wine selection and the... More

This is the first restaurant I've ever gone to two nights in a row. Excellent Cajun food (not French as the TripAdvisor note suggests) and one of the best wine lists I've ever enjoyed. Had a fine Whitehall Lane reserve cabernet that I'd never have enjoyed otherwise. Terrific jambalaya, etouffee and gumbo from a self-trained chef who appears to have... More

Didn't expect to find a good cajun styled restaurant in this area of North Carolina. The restaurant reminded me of places in New Orleans French Quarter. The food was excellent. My wife does not care for fish, etc, but she had a great meal which she was not expecting. It is expensive, but the service was outstanding and so was... More

Although I did not order the Jambalaya . . , almost everyone else at the table did . . . (I don't like spicy food) and they raved about it. LA Purchase is known for the Cajun cooking. I had the Poulet and it was excellent. The service was probably the best we've had up here in the High Country... More
