Sorrento's: Tasty Italian food & very good service

As a local looking for Italian food, this is where I like to go. First we had an appetizer (spinach & artichoke dip). It was a little light on the artichokes, but cheesy & good. Salads were sized right (a little pricey at $7-10). Waiter was good about bringing extra garlic rolls throughout the... read more

My young daughter and I went for dinner while the rest of the group was skiing. We were fortunate to be seated immediately (guessing bc at 7 pm on Sat lots of people are still on the slopes) and the host made a point to give us a table away from the draft of the opening door. The bread they... More

I had the crab cake and sautéed veggies and they were both very tasty but that is about the extent of the pleasantries. We were one of two tables in the restaurant and the food took for-ever to come out. When it did come out, the waiter brought out a plate with a piece of zucchini stuck on it from... More

Nice decor by local artist. Service was awful and there were only a few patrons. Pizza was very good. Crab cake was tasty but very small portion. Took forever to get our food and server brought items out that he should have seen were missing items. Made excuses instead of just apologizing for the inconvenience. Not sure how it would... More

Nice décor inside. Large bar area. Few diners on a winter weeknight. Service was prompt and courteous. Had calamari appetizer. Very lightly battered with excellent crisp/light crunch and tender, not like heavy wet chewy style that is so frequently served. I had tortellini with pancetta and nice creamy tomato sauce. Very large portion; could've served two. My wife had Veal... More

I just walked through my home door and finally got relive into the sink! Without the heartburns on my drive home and the release of the dinner into the sink I may would have given 2-3 points in rating. My partner had chicken and pasta which was eatable! I had Melanzane con Spagetti Pomodoro. I have to say the noodles... More

My fiancée and I went here for lunch. It is in a very quaint and cute area, and the inside is small, but decorative. The lunch menu was very small. He ordered a pasta dish and added chicken, I had a special of salmon and grilled veggies. When they refilled our waters mine had an ant in it. When they... More

I had been to Sorrento’s a couple times in the past, prior to my involvement with Trip Advisor, so this was a perfect opportunity to re-review this fine establishment. Banner Elk is a small community with an inordinate amount of fine dining in the area, likely due to the proximity of several ski areas, a small liberal arts college, and... More

The service is exceptional, food is incredible. The tortellini, crab cake with lobster sauce (anything with that lobster sauce), and veal dishes were nothing short of fantastic. The brunch here is unreal too. The "lost toast" is one of the best french toast dishes I've had anywhere and the lobster sauce/crab cake eggs benedict... I could survive the remainder of... More

We were in luck...Tuesday is half-price wine night on all bottles. Our server made an excellent suggestion which we enjoyed very much. We had an eggplant dish, which two of us split, and it was more than enough for a satisfying meal when paired with a salad, which we also split. Hey...we even split the bottle of wine!
