A real treasure - has it all

The "Lodge" has it all: indoor restaurant, ski-lodge like coffee/bakery with ala carte menu, and outdoor dining, with an ice cream "hut" open late. A wide variety of foods are offered in huge portions for prices so low you'll think they haven't been raised since the '50s. Service, provided largely... read more

We lucked into this place when we saw an array of patio umbrellas behind fencing and trees. A huge, multi-level patio serves two restaurants and diners get menus from both. I had a French dip, substituting a salad for the regular side and my wife had pasta. Both meals were very good. Our server was friendly & attentive. What better... More

My wife and I had lunch here during the week. We entered the cafe and sat in the breezeway outside which was a wonderful location. Fully shaded with a nice breeze. We were each handed two menus and I'm sure the confused look on our face prompted our server to explain that this was actually two restaurants with two separate... More

Had a family meal here after everyone arrived from their various hometowns. We had a large group and they were able to accommodate us with no issues. The food ranged from average to very good, with the pasta dishes being on the average end and the pizzas being on the very good end. For the pasta dishes, the chicken in... More

Went there for Sunday lunch--just missed brunch hours. They were very busy but we didn't have to wait long. Food was okay. We had seen better hamburgers and fries. I had the Patty melt with chips (colored taco chips), which was quite good. They were good about refilling our drinks. Service was very good

The hostess was able to seat us quickly and courteously. She brought our drinks and said the server would be there momentarily. After 45 minutes of waiting, I asked for the manager. The manager apologized and said that they were extremely busy. I stated that there was no excuse for us not being served. The manager did offer complimentary meals,... More

Found two pubic hairs in my husbands French fries, and it killed our appetites. Service was slow although the waitress was nice and apologetic about everything. We were told the kitchen was "slammed" although there was hardly anyone in the place. We will choose another place when in the area.

We recently enjoyed an evening at the Banner Elk Café! The outdoor patio and friendly staff added a great deal to the delicious meal.
