I have enjoyed good Mexican food in Mexico, NY, ATL, and many other places around the world. Enjoy very good Mexican food at Puerto Nuevo in a little town called Banner Elk, NC. The service is fast and friendly, the salsa and chips are great (don't make a meal of them), have fresh guacamole made at your table, and then... More

Friendly dining experience with plenty to choose from. Food is well prepared, served fast and when the bill arrives you can't believe you ate all that and the bill is only this much! Wait staff are all very nice and keep chips and water flowing. We usually stop by this place sometime during our visit to Banner Elk. No reservations... More

This is such a good Mexican restaurant. The chips are so flaky and the sauce is filled with such bold distinct flavors. Fresh avacodo dip made to order. The menu is standard but has the seafood option, which I've have had the oysters; very good best place to get them in the high country; but bring your own tobacco or... More

The place is huge and the service was very good. The soup, the drinks and guacamole were excellent. The dishes were good but nothing outstanding. A good place to bring kids and large parties. I would go back again.

We heard good things about this restaurant, but as soon as we pulled in we knew we had made a bad decision. Nothing was really bad, just nothing was any different than most other Mexican restaurants. There is another Mexican restaurant on the corner of 105 and 184, that, from the outside looks more upscale and less touristy.

Been out of season and it was slightly above average. Basic texmex don't expect real creative mexican with creativity, freshness or flare. Portions ludicrously big. Waiter was more interested in himself than the table guests, two mains very poor, bland, cold. Deserts had to be removed from the check. Sopapilla's were burn fried four tortillas and I mean burt black, flan... More

We eat here every summer when we vacation. I like the seafood and my wife likes the Mexican. Both were so good that we ate off each other's plate. We were surprised to have the tableside guacamole - very fresh. I recommend the shrimp in garlic sauce.

It was very tasty Mexican food. Seemed very classy (and huge) inside, but the prices were good. Definitely worth a stop if you are in Banner Elk.

Incredibly fresh food! I had the combination beef and chicken fajitas and my husband had a platter that included a little bit of everything...every little bit was so good.

The food and service here was outstanding and they were able to seat us very quickly even though they seemed to be very busy! We highly recommend this restaurant!
