We do not know the details, however it saddened us deeply to find a closed sign in the window of The Frog and The Monkey two weekends ago. We wish John and his wife the best. Please let Beverly Lait at the Banner Elk Inn Bed and Breakfast and Cottages if you reopen somewhere.

We had dinner here after reading the Trip Advisor reviews. We had a fun meal and were surprized with banana treats with our ice cream. The monkey must have put them there. I just checked their Facebook page and they announced on 15 May that they have closed. It is a sad loss for any community to lose a local... More

One of our favorite local restaurants! The food is always amazingingly flavorful and fresh. The meat is all locally grown and Organic. The selections are unique and selections blend well. I suggest the bok choy for a side, but my wife always orders the spicey mac & cheese! It's Hot!

Delicious food and great beer selection! Service was great and very personable. Highly recommended for a non-chain meal.

Based on a very quick read of these reviews we were expecting a very small, family friendly casual sandwich shop. This is a bit larger, and much cozier and nicer than that (and a little pricier, but worth it). We had a variety of menu items (all delicious) and our server was terrific. We were ignored for a lengthy amount... More

My wife and I were in Banner Elk reciently and decided to visit the Frog and Monkey again. Each time we visit we find something else exciting for our palates. This time we tried the watermelon soup. It was out of this world. Go by, see John and his awesome little eatery.

We walked in soon after they opened for lunch and were the first table seated, meaning we had the undivided attention of the staff. They pointed out that most of their ingredients were locally sourced when available and throughout the meal, you could tell. From the hummus for the family to my cup of broccoli and leeks soup, to the... More

Great for a casual dinner date and for visiting group that want something local - food and atmosphere. Super cute and awesome service. The chef came to our table twice to see how we were doing. Recommend the creamy tomato bisque with roasted red peppers also the flatbreads are great. Small menu but good variety of sandwiches, burgers and seafood.

Don't follow your GPS...call and get directions! Worth the effort though. Every meal was great and they are all local farming and Earth friendly! Highlights were the Cool mnt cream soda, gluten free beer options, kale salad, and grass fed beef burgers were to die for! Real food for real people!!

They serve healthy locally grown food but their efforts to be green and farm fresh are more genuine and not in your face. It was nice to know that although we were eating a burger and fries, it was better for us than usual. Service was great, food was delicious. We're so glad we discovered this spot. It's so convenient... More
