When in Buffalo, do the wings, but don't forget the beef on weck.

Beef on weck is Buffalo and Western NY's version of the roast beef sandwich. You can generally find respectable versions of the kimmelweck roll but more often than not the roast beef is overcooked and drowned in juice in order to make it SEEM moist. Not so with Charlie the Butcher. Their's is an... read more

We stopped here for lunch on a Monday about 11:40. I had expected a line but we breezed right up to the counter. We enjoyed the beef on weck, but would have liked the beef rarer. The cucumber salad was delicious.

A line out the door signals this as a local favorite. I enjoyed the beef in wreck, which was great, but could have had a bit more beef. The rice pudding reminded me of my grandmother's! Don't expect to find a seat during the lunch rush.

Cam here on a business trip and had the beef on weck with small soup and small soda. Like the original location they make a high quality roast beef sandwich. Service was friendly and prices are very reasonable.Restaurant is sit down and lots of space inside and out when the weather is good. I also ordered the famous rice pudding... More

They have perfected the Buffalo specialty of Beef on Weck which is fresh sliced roast beef on Kimmelweck rolls. First of all, you want this. The beef was rare, as requested, and the Weck rolls are crusty with salt & seeds. They were also slicing roast pork on my most recent visit. Buffalo is famous for Beef on Weck and... More

Beef on weck was delicious! Friendly service, and excellent food. Really liked the loganberry drink. Nice place to take the family for a casual meal.

I read the reviews, and wasn't totally convinced, but we were in the area and decided to give it a try, and I'm glad we did. It is sooo yummy! I'm actually not a huge roast beef lover and even I thought this was super. We got rings and soup as well, which were hot and good. The soup was... More

No need to write a review for people from buffalo. Now with over 6 restaurants, the success has been tremendous . You have to imagine a non fancy restaurant serving you incredible meat, carved in front of you . Today special was prime rib sandwich, the cook in front of you as a big slab of prime rib in front... Went here on a recommendation by a friend regarding the food. The place is not a fancy place, very casual, mom & pop feel at the side of the road. Very clean and quaint. Had the Beef on Weck and it was fantastic. The savory meat with the salt on the bun was a great combination. The sandwich is really,... More

So it's close to noon, but we score a parking spot and the line is way out the door, but moving quickly. Then we are lucky enough to get a booth, because the place is small. The wonderful tender beef is hand sliced to perfection and piled high on a fresh kummelweck roll. Apply the horseradish with care because it... More
