We make the occasional trip to Buffalo and wanted a good sandwich. Checked the internet and this place was among the top rated places for a beef on weck and boy o boy were the good ratings warranted. This is an old school throwback type of dinner setting with a counter and some booths and tables. A very simple menu... More

Another best kept non-secret. There have been some that have literally flown in to the area just to come here. (John Kennedy Jr. years ago) Buffalo roast beef on "weck". (Google it!!) Great home made soups. Smoked turkey & fresh pork also options for sandwiches.

After washing my hands I got in line to order. Charlie mistook me for a homeless or he is a racist because instead of taking my order he asked if there was something else they could do for me. The old man is losing it. His cook was angry and hitting and slapping the food and containers against the counter.... More

I hate to write negative reviews but in order to fair, this visit wasn't the best. We visited the original location (Wherle Drive) on a very busy cold afternoon. Waiting outside with a relative just picked up from the airport, mind you from the south we shivered as we smelled the beef. We ordered two roast beef on weck. The... More

All the food here is terrific, though the beef on weck is awesome. Excellent quality, good counter service, and generous portions. We actually cancelled dinner plans at Hutch's just to eat an early dinner here instead. Our new go to place when we're in Buffalo for a fast, delicious and inexpensive meal.

I had no idea about Beef on Weck before my visit to Buffalo. Well, it's amazing. And having since tried it at a couple other places, I can say fairly confidently that Charlie's got it down to a t. The addition of caraway and horseradish really works perfectly with roast beef.

My daughter brought me here. She's a seasoned customer! Not what I was expecting. It was more like a '50's diner. The crew was very nice and friendly. I had the roast beef on a plain roll and I can honestly say that it was the most tender, melt in your mouth roast beef I have ever eaten. We also... More

Every time I visit our co's corp HQ (2-3 x per year), I make sure i go to Charlies. Amazing Roast Beef (Beef on Weck) , though I don't like the salt on the roll, so I just get a Beef on plain fresh baked roll. Fries with Gravy! Everything made in house, excellent. Only thing I really look forward... More

I was here on business and stopped by after several recommendations by the locals. I happened by on the store's 100th birthday! It was busy. the workers knew several of the patrons, I guess there are lots of repeat customers. Small inside with several picnic tables outside. I had the famous beef on weck, basically a french dip type sandwich.... More
