Our evening did not start is this cute little Westport Ny gem. We actually started at The Galley, just down the street, or across the bay. Prior to reading this review, you should read my review of The Galley. Why did we end up at Le Bistro Du Lac, well because we could not get what we wanted at The... More

We've been going to Le Bistro during the summer for the past several years. We keep going back because you can't beat dining on the deck outside on a beautiful summer's evening overlooking Lake Champlain. It's a pretty spectacular view and more than compensates for any shortcomings in the menu or service.

This is the French and fancy restaurant on this part of Lake Champlain. Folks pull up in their boats and chow down on French classics from the onion soup to the duck or steak frites to the profiteroles. Don't expect innovation. While the owner seems lovely and hands on, the help is kind of inattentive for the price point.

My extended family ate at Le Bistro du Lac during Summer 2013, and it was lovely. I was excited to make a reservation for the night before Camp Dudley drop off. I took my two teenage boys as a treat, dressed nicely and well-behaved, expecting the we'd have a special night out. We were seated outside, and the restaurant was... More

The menu you seemed very old-fashioned, but when this well executed it's called classic French. Everything we ordered was delicious.

Full moon over lake, buzzing patrons, incredible food (very small wine glasses for standard prices), this was a truly pleasurable experience popular with visiting French Canadians who know the bouilllabase!

My wife and I went because it was highly rated by the local B&B. The food was very good. The service was OK...wait staff was very young, enthusiastic, and pleasant but not well trained. Requests were forgotten and the staff was a bit disorganized. Table arrangement was also strange....some of the prime locations for two were instead occupied by vacant... More

Bernard is the owner of Le Bistro du Lac and, along with Henri, owner of Chez Henri at Sugarbush. We decided to visit Westport and being big fans of Chez Henri, Le Bistro made our dinner plans. The view of Lake Champlain was incredible, along with a fortuitous double rainbow after a brief shower. The food was excellent and the... More

Disappointing, overpriced and weak. My wife and I had beet salad for $12 consisting of a thin layer of field greens topped with 3 slices of tomatoes on which 3-4 thinly sliced small beets were placed. Could have used some goat cheese, fresh basil and (or) small amount of some dressing for a little flavor, very disappointing and overpriced. I... More
