Break bread with the future military leaders of our great nation! Stroll the sacred grounds of West Point in the fall and you can smell the spirit of the brave , not just in the cemetery where they have been sleeping for years but from the kids in uniform who were gracious enough to share their dinning accommodations with us!

The brunch buffet at the Hotel Thayer is $37.00 per person. This includes unlimited mimosas and bloody Marys. Quality of the food ranged from good to very good. The salad section featured a number of different marinated salads, as well as shrimp cocktail and nova salmon with the usual trimmings. There were fresh bagels, croissants, rolls, Danish, and delicious warm... More

One thing I have learned about this town, there is not a whole lot to it. The hotel is old and pretty average to stay in. There just aren't a whole lot of choices, and they know here that they got you. I ate at the buffet where the shrimp had to have been breaded before frozen and then fried.... More

In Hotel Thayer is a castle like establishment within the grounds of the Military academy at West Point. The staff is friendly and polite. The food is very good, with a decent selection from the menu with an excellent buffet lunch at your disposal. We had lunch there during the week and the salads were fresh and tasty, although the... Wonderful view. Historic hotel. A must stop if you are in the area. We took friends here on two occasions. Resist the lunchtime buffet and ask for a menu. Restaurant staff seem to be trained to steer you toward the buffet. The buffet was expensive and rarely refreshed. The menu selections on the other hand were tasty, made to order... More

We had dinner last night on the porch overlooking the Hudson. Our waitress Kelly did a great job in every aspect of the meal and Larry oversaw all the tables and was attentive to everyone's needs. Our meal started with french onion soup which was excellent and while the caesar salad was ok our main meal of the Panko and... More

We ate one dinner and two breakfasts here while we were staying at Thayer for a long weekend. We ordered off the menu for the breakfasts, once every part of the meal was cold, the second very tasteless french toast. The dinner meal was better and so was the service for the dinner meal. It is certainly overpriced for what... More

We ate here for dinner and lunch and were not disappointed! The meals were very good and plentiful. Dinner was excellent as was the service. The view only added to our meal experience. I had the cod dinner and was surprised to find it came with shrimp and scallops. It was delicious. We were so pleased we returned for lunch... More

The food does not come close to living up to the surroundings. Two night stay at Thayer Hotel, ate here both nights. First, in Zulu Lounge, bar food, low expectations fully met. The MacArthur dining room is gorgeous, with outdoor dining overlooking the Hudson; so far, so good. Ordered 'crab and lobster cake' appetizer at $13; nary a hint of... More
