Great dinner

My husband and I had a quiet little getaway weekend. We had a nice dinner here, I had the French onion soup, which was highly recommended and it was tasty, but not the best I ever had. The food overall was tasty, but I found the place to be dated and cold. Of course we were there off season, so... read more

I decided to ignore the bad reviews and try this restaurant despite that friends said it used to be top notch - big mistake! This place is seriously bad. Started with the beef carpaccio - easy to do well, but a disaster. What should have been paper thin was at least as thick as un-pounded scaloppine. Even worse, this silver... More

At the risk of sounding unpatriotic, I was so extremely taken back by server at dinner this past Saturday night at lack of professionalism that it ruined the weekend for me and my girlfriend. It was the most shocking display of unprofessionalism by a waiter I have ever witnessed. It was a late reservation and he was obviously rushing to... More

The quality of the ingredients and how they were cooked was lacking. Hotel food is never great - however this was decidedly substandard.

Avoid this place. Don't waste your time or money. Go elsewhere. If you are staying at the Thayer and don't have transportation, walk through post to the West Point Club instead. It is listed as "#2 in West Point" but that doesn't mean it should be at the top of your list to visit. Terrible diner-like service for a place... More

best french onion soup on the planet and I'm a picky eater so I decided to just eat soup. My husband got steak and he loved it.

Beautiful historic location! Really. It has no other competition on this side of the river and certainly none at West Point. The food is pretty good but the service is not very good. The staff is not very attentive, you have to ask for water. The staff seemed confused about the wine available and not very knowledgeable. This restaurant is... More

The food and the wait staff were excellent. It was New Year's Eve and it was wonderful. Sean, our waiter, made the evening a complete success. He was pleasant, courteous and right there whenever you needed him.

On a frigid January day we decided to drive over to the Thayer Hotel and try the Sunday brunch. What a lovely experience. The staff are friendly, welcoming and efficient. There was a pianist playing everything from old standards to jazz to pop (she takes requests). Unlimited mimosas and bloody marys. So many food options you'll want to take small... More
