We were a family of 10 at West Point for a funeral. The restaurant was very quiet on a Thursday evening and we arrived less than an hour before closing hoping to be served. Macarthurs Riverview graciously accommodated us. Everything we ordered was above average, with the possible exception of dessert. Starters included lobster bisque, goat cheese and carmelized onion... We went here for our anniversary and sat out on the veranda. The view is beautiful and the manager was a doll but the food was only average at best. We ordered the crab cake and the tuna appetizer. The tuna was frozen not fresh even though when we asked they said it was fresh. I had to send the... More

The veranda, alfresco dining with Hudson River views was the was the highlight of a non memorable meal. The doughy dinner rolls lacked flavor. My salmon was overcooked, dry and tasteless. Everything else ordered was pedestrian at best. Overall, a big disappointment.

Had lunch with friends after touring West Point. Wait staff very helpful and pleasant. We all ordered large salads that were OK. It was worth it for the relaxing, beautiful atmosphere (we were sitting on the outdoor patio).

Food was good but the before dinner martini was awful. I sent the first one back as it was room temperature. The second was a tad better but I doubt was Greygoose which I asked for. I just have to say when I eat in a above average restaurant the vodka martini's are excellent. So I can not give the... More

The US Marine Academy at West Point. The name itself is awe inspiring ~ steeped in the greatest of Military traditions. The Hotel Thayer is located within the grounds of the USMA, and has been around in its original form since it was completed in 1926, amidst 200 years of military history, on the western banks of the Hudson River.... We have been to the Thayer before. Years ago, it was a magnificent treat to go for a wonderful brunch. Two years ago, the brunch was NOT so wonderful, and last night the dinner was horrible! It was a Birthday celebration for me and my husband, daughter and her husband went for dinner. The terrace lounge was great. The views... More

I have wanted to go to this iconic hotel, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, for Sunday Brunch for many years now---having heard so many recommendations from friends. The hotel is hard to reach, because if you are using a GPS, it gets jammed by the military when you are close to the area. We actually were hailed... More

While the menu is not as large as a restaurant's it is varied and offers the popular fare of meat, fish and poultry. The sides are generous as are the appetizers and the food is prepared with all the flavor you'd expect in an establishment of high class.

We were surprised by the delicious array of foods at lunch. Sitting on an overlook of the Hudson River we were trying to see the British Navy. For dessert lovers, you will be in heaven.
