Reservations were made by our lodge owner of Aoteareo Lodge, at the restaurant now named No. 8 (formerly Blonde)and is now under new ownership. It has a great location near the waterfront, looks upscale and trendy. Upon entering we were not initially greeted until we approached the bar. There was confusion. We asked if we could sit near the opened... More

We arrived with 3 kids after a rather stressful day and felt instantly relaxed the moment the bottle of Rose was delivered to our table. The staff were fantastic, the wine brilliant (and well priced) and the food was amazing!! We all (including the kids) finished everything on our plates. The mushroom pate was great and the eye fillet AMAZING!... More

We experienced both lunch and evening meal at this restaurant, not through choice, it was the only restaurant with seating available on that particular day, every other was extremely busy. Sometimes you can draw a lucky card and this was one of those occasions. Modern and slightly retro the food and wine were delicious, the service very friendly and professional.... More

Great food and service; but spoiled by the two sets of screaming kids, who should had been home in bed or taken out of the restaurant by a parent. I suppose management doesn't want to make a fuss but it spoiled what would have been an excellent evening out.

This has had a name change to No.8 and is also a fantastic place to eat with great views overlooking the Whitianga Estuary and wharf. Both wonderful food and service to boot. Very pleasant atmosphere.

Formally Blonde now No 8. Four of us dined there last night. It was very busy and all tables occupied or reserved. Person that greeted us went out of her way to find a space for us and we ended up out on the deck in a nice cool shady place which was fantastic as it was a very warm... More

We found that No 8 restaurant had taken over from the previous incarnation, Blonde. However the new name means nothing. My fish burger was distinctly average...fried frozen fish on a hard inedible bun, served with bog standard frozen fries. My partners 'crumbed' scallops were similarly deep frozen and fried, and devoid of freshness or taste. Both accompanying salads were weary... More

Enjoyed a lovely break from waling around at the Restaurant - even for al coffee and some treats, which were very tasty. It was fantastic to sit outside under the shady umbrella.

Now called Number 8. Had a lovely evening meal here and both opted for a fish dish. Cooked very well and very tasty. Well presented. Good wine list. Would eat here again.

After having to be closed for nearly a year with a major waterproof issue on the building, this restaurant is up and running again but with a new name of Number 8. There is a new chef who comes to Whitianga with a huge reputation and the food lives up to his reputation. It is in a great location and... More
