Very enjoyable

Really enjoyed the selection of food and wine on offer. The rooms have 2 fireplaces, very cosy. The staff are friendly and unobtrusive. The meal was delicious! The entrée and appetisers were amazing; a selection of local olives, squid and mussels, and a chicken liver parfait. The main was just as... read more

Frequent visitor to Whitianga and Salt is one of our favourite places to drink and eat. Lovely outdoor area for drinks & tapas on a summer afternoon but equally nice place to eat as well. Good quality restaurant. Great for winter dining and drinks as well as kept cosy & warm with

What a find, world class food, decor, service and imagination in the kitchen. We were recommended there by another restauarant in HaHei, it sure helps to get local knowledge. Take a ferry from Hahei for 3 dollars return and you are in Whiting, gorgeous little marina town. Picturesque and old world charm with a dash of majesty by the sea.

My sister and I visited Salt for dinner during a Girls Weekend in WHitianga and we were not disappointed. Delicious meals, great service, lovely warm dining room with the fireplace. Really lovely and would definitely visit again! A slightly limited menu for mains but all of the main protein options were covered!

Two people had two glasses of wine, and a main course each. The bill came to $97 which is top end of the price bracket almost anywhere in NZ. As you would expect for $38, my lamb rack was beautifully cooked; I asked for it to be medium rather than the usual rare. I would have preferred a little more... More

A good restaurant, well located. The fish was well cooked. We just wait a little bit, even if we were few to order

Went here for dinner on Sunday night with wife and two young children. Kids loved the pasta, and we were very impressed with the attitude and attentiveness from the staff towards the kids (seeing as some fine dining places are not at all family friendly). Had the best pork belly I've yet eaten. Lovely experience. Definitely be going back on... More

Love stopping here for lunch in the weekends. Great spot sitting outside on a sunny day. Battered fish is good value, and the mussels always tasty.

This restaurant has an owner that insists on providing one of the best dining experiences in Whitianga. The menu changes regularly and the food always great. Add to this the venue overlooking the marina plus the outdoor eating opportunity in warmer weather and you can be assured of a great culinary experience. Well worth a visit

We first visited in 2010, when it was more of a hotel restaurant. Really gone up in the world, its a restaurant in its own right now. Great terrace, with views and lots of tables BUT my only gripe is that it seems anyone can smoke outside, which can spoilt the terrace experience for any non smokers. Great wine list... More
