Service average....food average, when you pay $30 for a steak you'd think you'd get some gravy with it....but no that's extra! Better places in Whitianga to eat.

Worst food ever! Over priced, bad service.. Waited for a good 50mins for lunch then it was disgusting! Good for a beer if your prepared to wait in a 20 minute line..... Bad bad bad!

The ambience in this restaurant is soothing and comfortable. The Menu caters for steak lovers although fish and other dishes are offered. Seating is available on three levels. Television screens are dotted about on the rustic timber walls. A shuttle service was available while we were there last - making a decision to visit their establishment very easy!

I don't know why this place is in business. When the 8 of us arrived there was no one else there. That should have been the cue we needed to go elsewhere - we all wish we had. The garlic bread was ok, but that was about all. They just can't cook, I mean even the mashed potato tasted warmed... More

don't bother it's so bad. Poor quality food with cookie doing the cooking not a chef I think. They seem to have cream in everything. Don't go there unless you have to. I'm only filling this out because it says I have to write a 100 words how much more can I say about a bad restaurant without saying nasty... More

Not impressed, good food, service not so great, atmosphere could do with some improvement. Shocking language for a family venue.

WE wandered around a cold and windy Whitianga in the middle of winter looking for somewhere suitable for us to take our children for dinner we found Cambells Steak & Ale House. There was a large group that had arrived just prior to us and the waitress advised us and put our orders in quickly so they would be done... More

It was a quiet evening with only us in the restaurant when we dined but the service and the meal were fantastic but going in Winter season is very quiet but we preferred it that way as we can guess its a very busy place in summer season. They also have courtesy coach to pick you up and drop you... More

Ate here for dinner twice largely due to the curtesy van available and the desire for a glass of wine or two. We both had steaks two nights running and really enjoyed our meals. It wasn't overly busy given the time of year.

On a recent visit to the Coromandel with my wife and family, we came across this typically NZ hostelry! The food was VERY filling, especially the spare ribs. The staff were also very friendly and helpful. They even have a courtesy bus for those, who overindulge!
