Great location & generous helpings

We chose Squids because we wanted seafood and we were not disappointed. The menu option I chose was beautifully served and the generous. My husband chose the banana prawn option and although everything tasted good he hated having to shell the prawns with his fingers. Would be happy to go again.

If you love seafood this is the place for you. Not only do you have very pleasant surroundings, but the selection of sea food is great. Many products are sourced locally and that certainly is a plus. For those who are not in fish there are alternatives. Many of our guests have also spoken most highly of this restaurant and... More

I have been here several times and haven't had a bad experience yet, this visit was no exception. Lovely setting across from the Marina, great views. I sat outside and enjoyed all the surrounds. Food was good, seafood chowder was one of the best I have had, just beautiful. Salmon was OK, bit overcooked but tasty. Service was great.

They were nice enough to serve us when we walked in just as they were closing. We both had the salmon and it was the best fish meal we have had in New Zealand in 3+ weeks. I also had a great glass of the local Chardonnay. I highly recommend Squids.

We turned up without booking anywhere to eat on a Friday night in Whitianga in late February, the only table left was outside but as it still had a bit of late sun we took it. The location was good, the weather stayed warm - the posh fish and chips (blue cod that day) and squid tagine were both good.... More

We dined at Squids by recommendation from a local,we were looking for a great menu for fish. The food we ordered was the posh fish & chips and the Chowder given there was nothing more exotic like Crab or Cray or Prawn or Scallop or flounder etc.The home cut chips are more widely known as wedges. The food was ok but... More

We quite enjoyed this restaurant but the place does lack a bit of atmosphere and the service was a bit hit and miss. I would describe the food as "hearty" rather than "top end" but it was all really well priced.

Squid and mussels were our dining choices at Squids and they were both well presented and enjoyable.

Always a good crowd which is a plus. Well cooked main fish dishes - the posh fish and chips was good but the double cooked hand cut chips were a little undercooked in the centre, a tad too chunky so needed a little longer. Sesame covered fish dish and salad was nice, great fish but very large salad and sadly... More

We arrived here on a Sunday night just in time to be offered the last indoor table in the bar area at Squids with a good view over the marina. Service was friendly and efficient, good choice of sea food options, interesting wine and beer list featuring a variety of mostly NZ offerings. We shared flat breads with hummus and... More
