we had read positive reviews, but found the place empty, and overpriced for the menu on offer. we went here on our first night hoping for a super tasty fish bbq, my meal was red spotted emperor which was essentially tasteless, the prawns my husband had we disintegrating (from being pre frozen?) and of course salad bar had the two... 10 of us recently went out for a very casual family/friends get together and had a really good night at Finlay's. Funnily enough, half had the fish and half had the scotch fillet (yes, we know it's a fish bbq place) and all meals were great, The place is really cleaned up since we were there last and the open... We were skeptical going to this place because of the bad reviews. Good thing we gave it a try and enjoyed a very unique dining experience...and not to mention a happy tummy :) Value for money. Friendly staff (Don't be shy to talk to them about the area). Interesting things scattered throughout the establishment. E. N. J. O. Y.

Came here based on a friends recommendation. Who had been 2 years previous. Said the food wad good and Gary the owner is a right character. Unfortunately we found out he has now left and gone with him regretfully has also the quality of fish and cooking. One good part of the meal was the shell on bbq prawns. Apart... More

We thought it was funny at first, clear your own tables, funky kind of setting, looked like a BBQ area. We now realise that if you clear the plates, the chefs don't have to see the full plated crap come back to the kitchen. Nothing fresh about it, all frozen, the cray, the prawns were microwaved, rice salad raw, spat... More

This place is the worst place I've ever been to, Nothing was BBQ'ed. The salad looked like it had been there for days, no wonder the place was empty in the height of the school holiday season. Do yourself a favour and don't even think about going, we went in 2012 and thought it was bad so we tried again... More

This was the worst meal I have ever bought. Finlays was well known as being great food, for a cheap price in a cheap setting. With new owners it is now aweful food, for a high price in a cheap setting. Most food was cooked beyond eating, while some of the scallops were still partly frozen. Do not go here.... More

I am sorry but what we got was way below standard and over priced beyond belief. We eat out a lot and give people a chance but this can only be described as a tourist trap trading on a old reputation.

This place has been an institution, would be a shame to let it die. It is under new ownership, and they need feedback, as this looks like it may be a new venture for them. I love even quirky, hippy style settings and this place has that in spades! A little off the beaten track, please visit, tell them where... More
