We dined here with our son and his girlfriend, and have to say out of the 4 meals, not one of them was very good. Our son and his girlfriend both had parma's which were completely soggy and drowned in 5 times as much sauce as was needed. My husband asked for a 'medium rare' steak which came out 'well... More

Really and truly... I recently had the best "warm Chicken Salad" in the known world, here at the Cumberland Hotel.... absolutely fabulous! My husband had the roast beef dinner... which was decent and good (not 5-star, but nonetheless still ample and tasty)... and we shared a sticky date pudding that was simply amazing. Great place! Check it out.

It is not too flash, in fact a run down old pub dressed up. Fact is this is an old pub dependent on egm's. not the best by any stretch......

Acceptable value, well prepared and presented meal. I had the lambs fry and salad and it was well worth it. The choice of meals was good and from what I observed of other diners they appeared to be good portions, and just as appetising. The only downside would be that the premises was quite noisy, however I will be happy... More

Ordered the beer battered fish and chips for $23 - for a pokies venue I would have expected the meal prices to be at least a few dollars cheaper. When the meal arrived, it was clearly crumbed fish from a birds-eye packet. It had been flash fried to the point that the fish was dry and hard as a piece... More

The Cumberland bills this as a "bistro". I am still choking over that description. The "bistro" area is large and soul less - think canteen with carpet. Food is bottom end pub style, with no vegetarian options, other than the salad bar in the middle of the room. Having said that, they were happy to leave the bacon out of... More

Good value food in a country atmosphere. Didn't use the salad bar but looked good. Varied menu at reasonable prices. Wanted to watch the footy and was able to sit in one of the areas around the pub with Austar screens available and then go through for dinner. Overall would recommend.

Dont go to this pub because you think it will be a nice cosy place in the centre of Castlemaine to have a good meal. To be honest, this place is just your average TAB/Sports/Pokies/Bistro. Its extremely basic inside but there is a children s room which was a bonus for us. Only problem is, there was a ride in... More

My wife and I travelled from Melbourne by train to visit the historic town of Castlemaine. It was a lovely winters day although cold in the morning the sun started to warm everything up at about 10.30 or so.We waliked down to the centre of town from the railway station and passed the Cumberland, we decided that it would be...
