Incredible that in such a touristic place like St Emilion this place has been able to maintain such a wonderful, authentic wold winebar atmosphere. While enjoying the late summer shadow below the old tree in the courtyard enjoyed a lovely steak tartare with a fine glass, served by wonderful people who spoke more than decent english. A place to remember.

I have been going to L'Envers du Decor for over 20 years and hope to do the same for the next 20. I simply do not understand some of the reviews - parents of badly behaved children who complain they are not allowed to throw things or people from other cultures complaining about one which allows well behaved dogs to... We visited St Emillion last week as part of an organised bicycle tour by Bordeaux Cycle Tours who were excellent. Many restaurants were closed in the evening and our hotel, l'Auberge de la Commanderie recommended that we eat at the Envers du Decor. Having just cycled 50 kilometres from Bordeaux, most of it seemingly uphill, we didn't much fancy wandering... More

Had a nice dinner, but ordering was a bit of an issue as we were told that no, no one spoke English (a waitstaff of about 7 people, just taking orders, no help with the menu, very unusual) It was filled with locals, and many kids, as you sit outside in a large back patio area, great for families. We... More

We went here for lunch based on Trip Advisor reviews. The food was amazing...but the service was really disappointing. I felt we were a bother to the waiter. We had fois gras (amazing) and had fish. Both were amazing. We arrived at 12Noon because our kids were hungry and they put us in the back dining room...not sure why. The... More

We had been recommended this place and it was worth it. An absolutely fantastic lunch with two families. Great wine, lovely lovely service and the food was incredible. Oh do go it is lovely!

Food was lovely but the service was really slow (even by French standards). The courtyard is a great asset too.

I've been going to the L'Envers in St Emilion for eight years now and its become a holy place for my family and I. The wine list is the best in St Emilion (that's serious praise in the wine capital of the world), the service is exemplary, the food exquisite and the ambience unique. Sitting in the garden, in dappled... More

We were booked into this restaurant by the concierge at our hotel. When we arrived, although the first floor was virtually empty, we were seated upstairs where it was quite hot and stuffy. When we asked to be moved, we were told no, too booked up. So, we decided to look elsewhere for dinner. "Miraculously" as we were just leaving... More

We have eaten here before and loved it. A return trip after a long absence however, left us very disappointed. I still really like the look of the place but the food has really disimproved. The menu choice for mains was pretty uninspiring but that never really matters if the cooking is of good quality and it wasn't. 2 starters,... More
