Mostly really good food, and a great find near the Thruway

My husband and I often travel between Boston and western New York, and we usually time our trip west so that we can stop for dinner in Weedsport and eat at Old Erie. We've had a couple of disappointments, but usually the food is really good, service always friendly, and it's a great relief to get... read more

Who would have thought you would find a super German-American restaurant in a little town like Weedsport (just off of route 93)? On a recent visit to the Finger Lakes we asked at the front desk of our hotel for a recommendation for that evening's meal. She immediately said "Old Erie!" She was right!! We were pleasantly greeted by the... More

If you are looking for a place to eat off the highway, GO HERE. Friendly service and great food with generous portions. The salmon topped salad had beautiful greens and a terrific grilled filet. We felt like this was a lucky find. Our server Lisa was terrific. It was a delightful stop in our travels.

We stopped for dinner on the way back to Baldwinsville from the Merry-G-Round Theatre in Auburn. Like our past experiences, the food and service was excellent, but we did have a bit of a problem with the bill, which I attribute to management. Because we are seniors with small appetites, and know that the servings are generous, we decided to... More

We met a group of a dozen colleagues for a good bye dinner. We had a banquet room to ourselves. The food was excellent, especially the German food. Only complaint: the room was loud and noisy because of all the echoes. Service was so-so. We had to tell our waiter to bring us bread plates and knives were not included... More

We were drawn to this restaurant because we knew Tom's B'que sauce was being used on Wednesday nights. The server, Stephanie, was excellent! She told us the owner was a professional chef, so our expectation was elevated. We are professional reviewers in Syracuse; we chose the B'que platter to share. This was described by the server but not on the... More

My husband and I stopped here for dinner on our way home this afternoon. From the outside looks like a quaint, friendly, small town restaurant. It couldn't be more different on the inside. They have a very limited bar selection, but that is the least of their problem. As we were ordering, I watched an elderly couple served their food.... More

My husband's order of perogies was very salty, but the spinach on my vegetable ravioli was so salty that it was inedible. No one apologized when I pointed it out to the waitress. What a shame, because sorry goes a long way in my book. We won't return.

Weedsport is a tiny town on route 31 in New York State along the Erie Canal. We stayed here for the night and found the Old Erie Restaurant as a recommendation from the hotel. We were not sure what we expected but were pleasantly surprised at the good food. I had fresh fish, an overly ample helping but delicious. My... More

I went in for holiday dinner with the family. They offer holiday selections and everything was good. The service was acceptable and the atmosphere was comfortable. This is a real restaurant in a great town.
