Description: Notably the last restaurant on Coastal Highway in Fenwick Island, Delaware before entering Ocean City, Maryland, Delaware may have saved the best for last. The award winning Fenwick Crabhouse has been an icon in the resort for almost 50 years. Though being named a “favorite seafood dive in the US” for an unprecedented fourth straight year by Coastal Living Magazine, the Fenwick Crabhouse is hardly a dive. While the atmosphere is casual, they have an appealing menu of carefully prepared meals catering to a variety of tastes. You will find great wines, craft beers, their hallmark “The Perfect Crabcake” (NY Times), Delaware Magazine’s 2011 “Best Ribs,” and of course, those wonderful steamed crabs. Their mission is to provide a unique blend of creatively prepared dishes using fresh, locally grown foods and awardwinning beverages to the table.

After reading the great reviews of this place we decided to stop in for lunch looking forward to the Fried Chicken and crabs everyone in other reviews raved about. Maybe it was a lunch thing but there was no chicken and no crabs at lunch. We settled for a fish sandwich with some tired chips and a bland muffalato sandwich.... More

Management response:

We advertise our all you can eat Crab and fried chicken special as starting at 4 o'clock. But I can sure understand the disappointment when you have a taste for something on your mind and nothing else will satisfy it. The flounder sandwich is a whole fillet that sticks out an inch all the way around the sandwich. It is... More

Decided to try the Fenwick Crab House for the first time based on the 4 star rating on Tripadvisor. I had rockfish with shrimp and scallops on top and for some reason, they chef decided to melt mozzarella cheese over the whole thing. Yuck! The fish was raw and I had to send it back. Girlfriend had a pasta dish... More

We visited here after reading all of great reviews. We were so happy to discover that all the good things said were indeed true. The crabcakes were the best I've ever eaten--had a jumbo one, broiled, with potatoes and mixed veggies. The sides complimented the meal perfectly. My husband had the seafood lasagna and was very pleased with his choice.... More

I had the pleasure of being taken here for a celebratory meal and I can honestly say it was incredible. From the moment Cathy greeted us at the door, it was a wonderful experience. Lou was as perfect a server as one could ask for and the food was some of the best I've ever eaten at any restaurant. During... More

A Fenwick Island tradition. The crabcakes are surreal. The crab imperial and the seared scallop appetizer are amazing! A little pricey but you get what you pay for, all very fresh seafood so worth the splurge. I highly recommend. Don't be swayed by the outside appearance or the atmosphere inside, it's a class act.

I've been here several times and always have a good meal. The crab cakes, soft shell spider bites, the soft shell tacos, the fried grreen tomatoes toppped with crab, the soft shell crab provencial are all excellent. Definitely not cheap, but worth the price!

I have never eaten a better flounder filet than the one I had at this crabhouse. The outside of the filet was crispy and the inside just melted in my mouth! The french fries were marginal and the "cole slaw" was actually pickled cabbage - not my favorite. The flounder more than made up for it.

During lunch time we stopped at this restaurant for lunch to try the crab dinners that they advertise so aggressively on the web. The lunch menu was limited and steamed crabs were not even listed as an option. We ordered sandwiches which to say the least were sub par. The decor resembles a pub and not a fancy restaurant but... I'm a crab cake addict (raised in Baltimore) and have been looking for a good crab cake since I moved to Delaware in 1993. I was still looking when I came upon the Fenwick Crabhouse website, so I thought the wife and I should give this place a try. Their website states, "Lump Crabcakes - Our House Specialty," but I... It was so noisy that you couldn't carry on a conversation, plus it is so tight in there that the person's chair at the next table was against mine. As far as the food, it was marginal at best.
