Cute and Authentic

My husband and I tried Gasparito on our recent vacation. It was such a cute place! It was in a little neighborhood which was so nice to visit off of the main hotel scene. We were very excited to try Gasparito based on all of the excellent reviews we had read on it. While the food was pretty good, it was not as good as we were expecting. The owner was very great, and took his time explaining the menu and different choices. It is very authentic Aruban cuisine, and even the setting was... More

This was our 'Authentic Aruban Food' choice. The food was excellent, and the owner was very nice and knowledgeable. He even entertained us with riddles while we waited for our food. If you are looking for a quiet setting and relaxing meal, this will fit the bill.

We had a very good meal. Loved the feel of the family owned Authentic Aruba restaurant. Service was great.

Gasparito is located in an old Aruban-style "Cunucu" house, with a charming garden (partly coverd) that we had enoyed in the past. This time we were told that it is not being used due to the wind and the mosquitoes (so what's new ?), and indoor only a small room was available (another, bigger veranda style room was kept closed)... After reading positive reviews in both Fodor's and a highlight of Aruba in the United Airlines flight magazine, we thought we would give Gasparito a try. After spending way too much for mediocre food the previous evenings, it was refreshing to come to a place that not only provides excellent local food at a reasonable price (low $20s for entrees... If you want the true Aruban cooking this is the place. We had a very nice meal and desert served by the owner and his wife. There is some very interesting artwork adorning the walls.

After reading all the reviews, we were looking forward to dinner. Shrimp cocktail was okay but sauce lacked any zeal. Cordon blue was very dry and vegetables must have all been pre cooked as they really lacked any flavour. Service was good and owner did explain the menu.

What an amazing place! Both my husband and I opted for the local style food. I had the seafood combo and my husband had the goat stew. I had the escargot as an appetizer and he had the local fish soup. We had the Casia (flan) for dessert.. don't miss it! The owner and his wife were our hosts and... More

This is a true experience in Aruba and we always enjoy our meals here! The father/son combo continues as do the "brain teasers" The night we were there we sat next to a lovely family from Mass and our host dedicated his "puzzels" to the younger ones-no matter- I never get them either! Hubby had the special Chicken, wonderful and... More
