An English Chef with exceptional talent.

My wife and I have had the pleasure of eating at the Relais Royale on a number of occasions. It is quite incredible to think that a young English chef is setting the standards at the premier restaurant in Mirepoix. Fantastic food served on every occasion and at incredible price if you have the Friday lunchtime menu. The whole experience... More

The 50 euro cost for the four course, plus extra yummies, dinner was well spent and greatly appreciated. This is a small, country setting restaurant that has all the benefits of a one star (or more) Michelin restaurant without the crowds or excessive cost. The modestly priced 30 euro Malbec was also a good selection.

Restaurant belongs to a local relais chateaux just in old village Mirepoix. A courtyard tales from a quiet lovely old road to the dining room with a few tables and nice decor. A young waiter did all the service alone but his great effort between four tables (eight people in total) were very well appreciated. Restaurant offers just a simple... More

There is a single four course menu, with cheese available as an extra course. The menu does not seem to vary often, but the precise composition of some dishes certainly changed over the two nights we were there. There is a choice of two soups and two entrees, with three main courses (two fish, one meat) and three deserts. The... More

We were really looking forward to our meal here to celebrate a birthday. The ambiance and decor is classy in a beautiful building that is also a hotel. Most guests in the restaurant are hotel guests - but we just came for the meal. The service is good and friendly but the food is not at a level you would... More

We are arrived late for our stay at the hotel and they were kind enough to make sure the kitchen didn't close before we could be served. The restaurant is very intimate with probably 10 tables. The servers were very sweet and spoke their best English to us. The Vichyssoise was made with sweet potatoes and was out standing. The... More

We stayed at the hotel. In the afternoon we wandered around Mirepoix and decided to have dinner at the Ciel d'Or. It was a wise decision. Fortunately for us it was a slow night; our booking came in between two periods when the hotel was fully booked. The chef owner came by our table early on and we were able... More

Admittedly reluctant to opt for a six course meal after several days of over indulgence, we nevertheless decided to treat ourselves (again!). Actually we needn't have worried - while there are six courses, the courses are small with the emphasis on quality over quantity. This is an epicurean experience and a delightful one at that. For those undecided, just do... More

We arrived in town tired and hungry and found several recommended restaurants closed or on holiday. Several open ones were not acceptable for one or another reason. Finally we found a gem. Food was amazing and service excellent. The menu included pork which my wife is not crazy about. They cheerfully switched her main course to lamb. In short it... More

My husband and I have been to the restaurant Le Ciel D'or for lunch on Fridays having the menu of the day and enjoying every mouthful, going for Sunday lunch and the Menu Degustation Unique was even better. At €57 (does not include wine) it may sound expensive and you can certainly find cheaper, but the menu is five courses... More
