I have never understood the reputation the French have for rudeness. In all the trips I have had through France, over many years, I have found service to range from formal to "correct" to warm to downright friendly, but NEVER rude. Today, that changed, at Chez Pap's in Mirepoix. Granted, today was market day, and Chez Pap's is a restaurant... More

Recommended to us by our Hotel, and thoroughly enjoyed it. We didn't bother with starters and had excellent steaks which came with chips, salad and pasta (which was probably one step too far!). Not surprisingly, we didn't have room for pudding, but we enjoyed our (not expensive) local wine and, particularly, the banter between the ladies in the front of... More

Chez Pap's had been recommended to us and it didn't disappoint. I had the cassoulet and found it very tasty - and filling! My husband had the entrecote steak and they cooked it 'bien cuille' as requested - this is unusual in France! Despite it being a busy Saturday evening the service was good. Not cheap but then we were... More

Great food and friendly service in a small and somewhat crowded venue, which actually provided a nice atmosphere. Not cheap, but the duck, beef and steak dishes we had were memorable. A fifth star if it hadn't been as expensive.

Need I say more? Oh, yeah... the prices. Same formula menu as most restaurants around the center and same price: about 13 for an entree and main dish. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Authentic local restaurant, typical of the South-West France region. Great value set menu (formule du jour, which includes cassoulet, steak, confit of duck etc), with several more choices a la carte. The magret of duck and steak are the best in Mirepoix. The indoor seating is limited but in the summer, the outdoor area extends this. Local wines are decent... More

They only really do duck and chips. In peak season it can be a bit hit and miss but out of season it's worth going to. Be warned the starters are enormous and I ercommend that you share: one fois gras is enoug for four. They do like their carbs - you get a portion of macaroni cheese with your... More

Great food at great value, the portions of foie gras are immense. Jean-Marc and his family are gorgeous. Have been going here since they opened, and yes it isn't haute cuisine but it is lovely and I am never disappointed.

We ate here on our visit to Mirepoix because it was market day and we literaly couldn't find a table for lunch. I can't fault the welcome, but the food was distinctly average. It wasn't that it was bad, it just wasn't particularly great. However, as I said, the welcome was warm, and I will forgive a lot for that... More
