Very pleasant lunch

We were on a tour of Stone Town today and lunch was provided here. From the moment we walked in we felt comfortable. There was a beautiful smell of Lemongrass and the room was cool and relaxing. Definitely an experience worth a visit if you can get a table in the upper roof top section. Beautiful, romantic setting complemented by great service, well priced and tasty food. Colleagues stayed in the attached Jafferji hotel and highly recommended it as well.

We just passed by on the shopping street - and saw a very beatiful decor to the restaurant. Up on the roof top - us being the only customers during the lunch. Strange - as the view is great and the food is good. Had a very good soup with beef and ginger and then a very well spiced chicken... More

I did not get to stay here but visited with the family for a meal. Firstly let me start by saying this place smelt incredible, I was drawn in from the main street by its beautiful scent of mixed spices. Once inside we made our way to the back court yard - what a hidden gem. The walls are covered... More

We had a great morning learning to cook 5 Swahili dishes with one of the Mistress of Spices chefs. To add to the fun, the lesson is given over two charcoal braziers and using glazed clay pots. Swahili curries and pilaus have carved out their own identity and all foodies should add this to their repertoire. Afterwards, the food is... More

Our first restaurant on stone town and loved the food. The decor was fantastic too. The inside area has air conditioning for those hot days and the friendly waiters make you feel right at home.

Probably the most "local" of the restaurants we visited in Stone Town. I enjoyed the octopus salad and beef curry with chapatis and we finished with spiced coffee and a small platter of sweetmeats. Portions are generous. It's not licensed but the fresh fruit juices are very good.

We booked a cookery course at the restaurant. Chef Yusuf patiently teaches you to prepare 4 dishes in the courtyard - Chicken Paka, Spicy Pilaf, Green banana curry and chapati. The food we prepared is then arfully plated and presented to us as our meal in the restaurant.
