Cheap and cheerful

I was stranded Sunday without a meal in view and ended up here in the Lukmaan which is more like a cafeteria. The food was nourishing if quite salty, and the cats were delighted with my handouts.

I have eaten in here on all my trips to Zanzibar. I love it! The food is delicious, and very cheap :)

After a little bit of chaos and sharp elbows you will finally order good, cheap and local food. You will order from a buffet behind the bar by poiting of what you want. Highly recommended the restaurant!

Loved the espresso and tamarind juice here! Will definitely be returning for these things, but it's a shame that many of the items on the menu were not available (avocado juice, samosa..) The prices are very good, you don't feel like you are being the ''mzungu price'.''

The quality of food wasn't really good. I think it is overrated. But the price is good. You can mix with locals and depending on time of the day it can be chaotic.

They had a great selection of food, which was great and they had amazing juices (I tried tamarind but my favorite was the avocado one). Would definitely go back.

You should go for lunch just because the food is great, plentiful and affordable. One of my favourite places for local food.

Most food here is traditional and quite good. Its a place that a lot of the guides take tourists to to eat and drink. It seems like organised chaos but it seems to work. Good food though, enjoy.

If you want to have a taste of authentic swahili cousine...this is the place. Enjoyed their biryani.

Was some seriously good food. Local but superb. The briyani was spiced to perfection and the chicken was moist and tasty. Will definitely go back there
