I've been living in Zanzibar for 3 years now and whenever I have visitors I take them here. It's not just for the food which is excellent but the atmosphere and feel as well as the service from the staff. You walk up the stairs (be aware there are a good few flights of stairs but plenty of places to... More

Secret Garden closed on a Tuesday, roof top restaurant fully booked so just had a sundowner . View and ambiance fantastic once you have climbed the 100 or so steps to the top! Cooling breeze and cocktails OK. Had to ask for nibbles but service good.Disappointed not too eat

I ate at the Emerson Spice Secret Garden and was a little disappointed. While the setting is beautiful, the service was poor and the seafood platter was so-so. The calamari was overcooked and the Kingfish was undercooked. The wait staff never came by my table to check on me once the food was served.

Sitting on the rooftop of a historic building, watching the sunset over Stonetown is an amazing way to set the mood for a meal. You then sit down for a delicious cocktail. Then the set menu meals are delicious. And really brave yourself, you can get very full. Also they provide a vegetarian menu as well. Exceptional experience.

the view from the top was great. we were a bit late & their set menu lunch missed some of the food on the menu, yet the waiter offered us alternatives. You can go there shortly before sun set, I think it's be nice. A bit overpriced, yet worth it, even if you only go for drinks!

I ate here on the recommendation of a friend who, as it turns out, had actually intended to recommend the related Emerson on Hurumzi, where he had stayed some years ago--but I was not disappointed, to say the least. I was greeted by the manager at the entrance, who asked whether I had a reservation; I was relieved to find... More
